United states should be in a better place

It is a disgusting disgrace to think of what the United States of America could and should be except for the vile greed of a few absurdly wealthy people. I will use the Koch brothers as examples to represent those people, some corporations, Wall Street banks, hedge fund managers, etc. By buying off politicians, most all of the Republicans, they are "legally" robbing the rest of us of our health and wealth. They have their own think tanks, TV network, some newspapers, and a bunch of highly paid radio talking heads to blast their hateful propaganda into the minds of those who never seek the truth, or those who hold some misguided hatred of others.

We should already have a cure for cancer, Alzheimer's and other illnesses. Private industry is necessarily for profit and will never attempt to research these cures. We should have absolutely guaranteed clean pure air to breathe and water to drink! We should have the very best infrastructure of roadways and bridges. Federal government money is necessary! The billionaire Koch brothers financed the tea party. Republicans would destroy unions and eliminate regulations, doing the bidding of the Koch brothers, to the detriment of the rest of us!

Self-preservation comes across as racist

I do not think the George Zimmerman case was about race. It was about a perceived threat that never occurred but still was perceived in that way. As humans we can perceive thoughts in others and then take them as the truth when, in fact, it wasn't that way at all.

While listening to the president's speech about this subject, he mentioned a few things that happened to him as a young man. In reference to the lady in the elevator reacting as she did when he entered, it wasn't because he was black but because he was a male. She was in a confined space with a man she didn't know and she could hardly wait to get out of that situation. I know just how she felt. The car doors locking when he walked down the street was not because he was black but because he was a male. This was perceived as self-preservation because they did not know him.

Having grown up in Detroit and actually being there during the riots when my husband had to go to work every day on the very roads where crimes were being committed, I can tell you it was not black men or white men that I was afraid of - it was the mob mentality of all men.

Didn't someone say a few years ago, "Can't we all just love one another?"

God is the creator of all things

Many marvel at the universe and realize there is a creator. "In the beginning God made the heavens and the earth." The soul is separate from the body. "Then the Lord God formed the man and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature." If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.

Have you ever observed a person before and after they have repented for the forgiveness of sins? The person becomes "a new creature in Christ, the old has passed away, behold all things become new."

Evolution does not explain life's diversity. There is no evidence in the fossil record; no observable evidence recorded anywhere. You refute a creator for unanswered questions and accept a theory that has never been proven. "For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For His invisible attributes, namely, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse." NORMA WALLACE, Ooltewah
