BOAZ, Ala. -- An 80-year-old hospital patient is facing charges of assaulting a health care worker and a police officer.

WAFF-TV reports that George Loyd Clark of Albertville was transferred from Marshal Medical Center South to the county jail following his arrest on assault charges.

Boaz police say the elderly man became angry while getting a CT scan at the hospital. He allegedly put his hands around a technician's neck and pulled her hair.

Authorities say Clark then went outside the hospital, where he is accused of hitting a police officer in the face.

The acting police chief in Boaz, Todd Adams, says Clark isn't a typical 80-year-old.

Bond for the man is set at $5,000. County welfare officials have filed documents showing Clark has physical and mental problems and needs care.
