Vision Hospitality named best in Hampton brand

Hilton Worldwide named Chattanooga-based Vision Hospitality Group Inc. as the 2012 Developer of the Year for the Hampton Brand, the company recently announced.

“We couldn’t be happier about this accomplishment and longstanding partnership with Hilton,” said Mitch Patel, president and CEO.

Vision Hospitality plans to open five new Hampton-branded properties this year.

Leeann Pulliam wins Darden award

Darden Restaurants awarded a local restaurant manager with one of the company’s top honors Tuesday.

Leeann Pulliam, managing partner of the LongHorn Steakhouse in Cleveland, Tenn., earned the Joe R. Lee Diamond Club Award for the restaurant’s exceptional service and financial performance.

Nineteen managing partners at LongHorn Steakhouse restaurants in North America earned the award, selected from about 410 restaurants.

“Leeann is an exceptional leader who embodies LongHorn’s core values and is committed to excellence,” said Valerie Insignares, president of LongHorn Steakhouse.

GDP growth at 1.5 percent

When the Commerce Department releases its first-blush economic growth estimates for the second quarter of 2013 todday, it’ll likely show a U.S. economic recovery lumbering along at an anemic pace.

Most mainstream economic forecasters expect a growth rate from April to June well below 2 percent, with the most optimistic in the 1.5 percent range.
