Hamilton County Commissioners spend $6.75 million on radios

Wednesday, June 5, 2013

Hamilton County Commissioners voted today to spend $6.75 million upgrading all of its 1,697 portable radios.

The purchase puts the county in line with federal narrow banding requirements, which went into effect January 2011. It will also allow communication between all county, state and nearby federal agencies.

The county will receive a $865,750 discount for buying in bulk. Radios will be purchased from Motorola Solutions.
