about Clay Bennett...

The son of a career army officer, Bennett led a nomadic life, attending ten different schools before graduating in 1980 from the University of North Alabama with degrees in Art and History. After brief stints as a staff artist at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and the Fayetteville (NC) Times, he went on to serve as the editorial cartoonist for the St. Petersburg Times (1981-1994) and The Christian Science Monitor (1997-2007), before joining the staff of the ...

Obamacare (O'Romneycare) forces healthy young people to buy insurance for less healthy older people. So, Ted Cruz for President.

Why did Martyn Lloyd-Jones switch from medical doctoring to preaching? Because his mentor had diagnosed King Edward VII with nicotine poisoning--too many cigars--and kept noting that sick people ate too much, drank too much, and smoked too much. Often, not always, the problem didn't come from the disease; it came from doing stupid things such as fornicating. On a policy level, why subsidize stupidity, especially when stupidity is fun? On a personal level, repentance--change--is what we need, which Jesus Christ brings and insists on. (I rejoice that Lloyd-Jones's sermons can now be heard free at mljtrust.org. My 3rd grader says his accent remind her of Gollum in Lord of the Rings.)

AndrewLohr, thanks for the tip on the Martyn Lloyd-Jones website.

My favorite is John MacArthur. You can listen to hundreds of his sermons as well as read the transcripts of his sermons. I have read and listen to John for over 30 years who is a wonderful man of God and a great commentator who has written scores of commentaries. He names cults and false prophets and pulls no punches. You can download his sermons to Mp3. I begin every day with him at -

Do all Republican parents think it’s cool to encourage America's kids to smoke or is it just the politicians who are taking money from the tobacco industry?

Did you mean to say: Health tips taken away from christian friends are neither baskets nor hats? Or possibly that diagnosing trees are wet doesn't mean TV preachers on the radio are lazy?

Cats dogs and babies. I guess that means its Wednesday.

Now that our two Evangelicals have checked in, let's move on.

A report released by the College Republican National Committee found that the GOP lost young voters between the ages of 18-29, because many young people view the Republican party as "closed-minded, racist, rigid, and old-fashioned."

Bill O'Reilly, on a recent broadcast, invited CRNC Chairwoman Alex Smith and research analyst Kristen Soltis, who helped write the CRNC report, to explain their findings.

O’Reilly questions surrounded the reasons why young people don’t like the GOP.

Soltis: “Republicans don’t have an answer to the problems that are facing them, particularly when it comes to their personal financial issues."

O’Reilly: "How could they possibly think Obama’s better on the economy?"

Soltis: "While young people understand how bad the economy is, they believe Obama is trying to fix things and so they give him an A for effort."

Bill O'Reilly rolled his eye and then uttered;

O’Reilly: "Why should I care, let alone the national Republican party, about the opinions of a bunch of kids who don’t know anything? While Barack Obama was definitely younger and hipper than Mitt Romney, I don't see a big difference in the two presentations in how both appealed to young people."

Smith: "Young people ranked 'coolness' a lower priority than being hard-working and responsible."

O’Reilly: "These are GOP tenets, and so it must be social views that are coloring how young people view the GOP."

Soltis: "While young people are overwhelmingly pro-gay marriage, they are split down the middle on abortion, so it’s not impossible to imagine them winning over young people on social issues, but it’s still economics where they have to win the battle."

The report which can be read online had a few insightful revelations as well.

In the report, the young Republicans acknowledge their party has suffered significant damage in recent years.

Gay marriage: "On this ‘open-minded’ issue, we will face serious difficulty so long as the issue of gay marriage remains on the table."

Hispanics: "Latino voters tend to think the GOP couldn’t care less about them."

Perception of the party’s economic stance: "We’ve become the party that will pat you on your back when you make it, but won’t offer you a hand to help you get there."

Big reason for the image problem: "The outrageous statements made by errant Republican voices."

"The Republican Party has won the youth vote before and can absolutely win it again, but this will not occur without significant work to repair the damage done to the Republican brand among this age group over the last decade."

Seems to me that the Democrats don't have to address the issue of outreach to youth very much at all.

This past November, 5 million more in that demographic voted for Obama than they did for Romney.

A Republican cannot win enough votes to become President without a majority of votes coming from African-Americans, women, Hispanics, and younger voters.

And recently, they indicated that they've all but given up on wooing African-Americans and women, so they are attempting to bridge the gap with Hispanics and youthful voters.

Given their total refusal to come across with immigration reform, it doesn't look like they will garner any more Hispanic votes, and from what I read written by college students, they are not making any progress with our youth either.

The Grand OLD Party isn't appealing to those who are young, and they probably never will, especially when you have clowns like Bill O'Reilly, who adores Republicans, insulting the intelligence of young people on the air like he did.

My experience with youth is that they are more tuned in than people give them credit for, especially if they are currently seeking a higher education.

Speaking of outreach:

Wisdom shouts in the street, She lifts her voice in the square; At the head of the noisy streets she cries out; At the entrance of the gates in the city she utters her sayings: “How long, O naive ones, will you love being simple-minded? And scoffers delight themselves in scoffing And fools hate knowledge? “Turn to my reproof, Behold, I will pour out my spirit on you; I will make my words known to you. Proverbs 1:20-23NAS

Anyway, he was sermonizing on teachers unions and said they’re really bad for children because they’ll destroy their future.

In general, young people throughout history have never been conservative. Some of them age into it, others don't. The main difference of course, is fear.

A young liberal knows no fear. An old liberal has learned to control it. That's why religion and conservatism are closely related. Religion is partly a reaction to fear. (There are no atheists in fox holes. Deathbed conversions. Fear the Lord.)

Conservatism is also a reaction to fear. (A Republican is a Democrat who has been mugged. Conservative fear change. The definition of "conserve" is to keep things as they are.)

That is not to say that conservatism is a bad thing. As long as it's not taken too far and tips into unreasonable hatred it's fine. If we use a stock market analogy, where each of us is an investment, conservatives are bonds, and liberals are stocks. Sometimes optimism and taking chances earns you the most, sometimes being conservative and weathering the storm is the best course.

That's why during hard times people tend toward conservatism and religion, and when things are going well we tend toward liberalism and atheism.

That's my take on it anyway.

But smoking is on the Republican agenda, Alprova. Clearly, the tobacco industry is convinced it’s on their agenda. Some of these groups like the Republican State Leadership Committee got a lot of money from the tobacco industry, and as we all know these giant corporations don’t part with their money just for the heck of it. In other words, the Republican agenda may not actually urge kids to smoke, but it will try to prevent everybody else from discouraging kids to smoke.

If so, why would you keep changing profiles?

If so, why would you accuse others of being fake or dishonest??

It's quite "plain" and obvious that chet is a "one and only" type of character.

If you truly believe that the way easy forms his thoughts into posts is in any way similar to the way chet forms his thoughts into posts.. well, your abilities of perception are at a dangerously low level.

Like, the level where you may accidentally eat dirt, while perceiving it to be crunched up oreos or something. Or walk out of a window.. after perceiving it to be a door to another room.

This low level of perception would explain why you keep changing your name expecting other posters not to recognize your thought patterns or your specific placement of a "bwahahaha".

I have some advice for you that may change your life for the better.

Not everyone is as dumb as you are. Many people's perceptive abilities are quite sharp. If you find yourself in strong disagreement with highly perceptive people too often.. you may want to take as close of a look as you are capable at your base positions. (I understand it can be difficult to see closely and clearly through cataracts of ignorance stemming from poor nature, poor nurture, or both)

But disagree with your choice of the ’third(3rd)....classism as the worse of the worse.’ Of the three “ism’s” listed, I think #2 is the most destructive.

Stupid is perhaps an overused word but no word is more apropos for the Republican Party. It is SO stupid that it doesn't even realize how stupid it is. Only a handful of Republicans with a modicum of sense have stepped forward and admitted how stupid the party is behaving and is in need of a major overhaul. With the ever increasing growth in numbers of minority groups, especially Hispanics, and the more multicultural and diverse we become as a nation, the GOP, unless it totally rebrands itself, will become even more irrelevant and out of touch.

This 'toon is right on in that the ad campaign of Joe Camel proved to be a disaster for the tobacco industry because of its perverted attempt to make smoking cool again, especially among the young, whom it claimed not to be targeting (yeah, right). The GOP is so clueless and awkward about how to reach out and make itself relevant (or cool) that it only comes across buffoonish and ridiculous with every feeble attempt it has thus far made. It is the party of the pre-civil rights, pre-women's rights old-white-guy establishment America and it clings to yesterday like a drowning person clings to a life preserver. It would be fun to watch this despicable party slipping into oblivion if its obstructionism and attempts to take us down with it weren't creating so much hell for everybody in the meantime.

Pretend that this is a formal meeting where you can only address the chairperson, and pretend the chair is a benevolent being who can't actually talk back, like God or the Great Spirit or Mount Kilamanjaro or whatever floats your boat. When you must refer to someone, refer to them respectfully and indirectly.

For example, "I propose that the majority of people don't closely examine their own motivations and beliefs. They believe what others around them believe, and their actions follow their feelings. This explains how political and religious beliefs follow geography."

"Others however, such as our friend Maximus, break completely with their friends and neighbors and identify with people they aspire to be. For example, our friend Maximus is a shy, white pizza delivery boy who lives in his mother's basement, but he aspires to be Black Donald Trump. To this end he has created an online fantasy world where he is the heroic antithesis to everything he is in real life."

PlainTruth, are you really Rebus? Jack Dennis?

If so, why would you keep changing profiles?

If so, why would you accuse others of being fake or dishonest??

I have some advice for you that may change your life for the better.

Not everyone is as dumb as you are. Many people's perceptive abilities are quite sharp. If you find yourself in strong disagreement with highly perceptive people too often.. you may want to take as close of a look as you are capable at your base positions. (I understand it can be difficult to see closely and clearly through cataracts of ignorance stemming from poor nature, poor nurture, or both)

dao1980 said...

Did you understand it?

Don't tell me you're even too stupid to have understood that there were questions in it.

Do you keep closing your profiles and opening new ones? If so, why?

How can you attack anyone for anything when you are the most transparently fake person on this thread?

(this post has questions in it also... I hope they aren't over your head)

That’s quite an attempt to acquire an understanding of PlainTruth’s motivations and a assessment of his intellectual abilities and ethics.

You are here quite often and as your above post shows you seem to be interested in staying aware of others positions and making value judgments on them.

Let me ask you a question? Where were you when alprova and Easy123 made despicable attempts to silence PlainTruth by threatening to smear him with untruths so as to denigrate him in in front of the posters and readers of this web site? Did you have any questions for that type of behavior or provide any value judgements as to the ethics of the people involved?

I truly hope that you are not afflicted with cataracts and are able to see that my post as well contains questions and that they are not beyond your grasp to comprehend on several levels.

It's quite "plain" and obvious that chet is a "one and only" type of character.

If you truly believe that the way easy forms his thoughts into posts is in any way similar to the way chet forms his thoughts into posts.. well, your abilities of perception are at a dangerously low level.

Like, the level where you may accidentally eat dirt, while perceiving it to be crunched up oreos (irony?) or something. Or walk out of a window.. after perceiving it to be a door to another room.

This low level of perception would explain why you keep changing your name expecting other posters not to recognize your thought patterns or your specific placement of a "bwahahaha".

The real problem is not that it is hard, for most people, to identify sarcasm but that it is to effectively practise the form.

Most people have a tuned social awareness and the gift of disingenuousness to survive in the same. When they are involved in interactions with others there are many times that they say or do something that is a bit “off center”. As soon as they realize through eye contact, body language, etc. that they have crossed some line they usually have a simple response to save face.

“It was a joke ... didn’t you get it?"

"Don’t tell me that it went over your head? ... It was a joke ... damit! ... O.K.?"

"Whatever! ... It says more about you than me that you took that wrong."

by COLONEL DAVID HUNT

When the American mission in Benghazi, Libya was attacked on September 11th, 2012, only one person had the positional authority, legal mandate, and communications apparatus to give the order to defend our personnel on the ground: the President of the United States.

That same day, two other American embassies in the Middle East were also under attack in Sana, Yemen and Cairo, Egypt. As a result, our intelligence systems were on high alert. It means everyone was briefed. This is how it works; no games, no conjecture, no television and movie looks, just real battle in real time with real lives at risk.

The road to that indecision is littered with policy and leadership failures that culminated in an American mission and clandestine CIA base being attacked and the murder of our Ambassador and three dedicated Americans doing their jobs.

All the President had to say within the first two hours while being briefed by the Secretary of Defense was, “Send in a response force.” This command, followed by his signature on a paper called Cross Border Authority, would have ordered the Department of Defense to do everything and anything to save lives in Benghazi, Libya.

Had the President ordered a rescue, he had everything he needed to mount a prompt and forceful response--from F-16’s in Aviano, Italy, to an armed and fueled plane standing by at C Company, 1st Battalion, 10th Special Forces Group, training in Croatia–a mere three hours from Benghazi by air.

When the first shot was fired in Benghazi, no one knew how long the fight would last. Subsequent government claims saying we could not get there within the seven-plus hours that the tragedy lasted are specious at best and an outright lie at worst. We did not even care enough to try; that fact alone should make all Americans who mourn the loss of four of our countrymen very angry.

This ultimate Presidential control—the ability to bring armed American forces to bear anywhere in the world within hours—has existed for over 25 years. It exists precisely because of past mistakes and embarrassing moments brought to us by various governmental agencies, congresses, and presidents.

There is one simple point to be made about Benghazi: the President of the United States is the only human being on the planet that can order a bullet, a missile, a plane, a drone, a boat, a helicopter, a soldier, sailor, spy, or push cart with a squirt gun attached to go into another country and perform an aggressive action.

On September 11, 2012, we know the President failed to give that order. We don’t know where he was, what he was doing, or why he failed to act. But we do know he failed to act, and that inaction cost the lives of four brave Americans.

by John Eastman, USATODAY

The world is learning about the corruption of the IRS in targeting conservative groups, including various Tea Party organizations, for heightened scrutiny. But the corruption goes much deeper than harassing groups seeking first time non-profit designations, into actively sabotaging existing non-profit groups by releasing confidential information.

In March of 2012 the Human Rights Campaign published a confidential tax return of the National Organization for Marriage, which was immediately republished by The Huffington Post and other liberal news media outlets. The HRC and NOM are the leading national groups on opposing sides of the fight over gay marriage.

HRC wants to redefine marriage to make it genderless, while NOM wishes to preserve marriage as the union of one man and one woman.

ProPublica reported this week that the IRS handed over to them confidential documents of nine conservative organizations whose applications for non-profit status were still pending..

For months before March 2012, the pro-gay marriage HRC had been demanding that NOM, publicly identify its major donors, something that NOM and many other non-profits refuse to do. The reason is simple. In the past, gay marriage advocates have used such information to launch campaigns of intimidation against traditional marriage supporters.

Just as gay marriage proponents were demanding the information, the IRS appears to have illegally given them exactly what they were looking for. The tax return released by the HRC contained the names and addresses of dozens of major donors to NOM. And there's little doubt where the documents came from. The tax returns contained internal coding added by the IRS after the returns were originally submitted.

For the IRS to leak any organization's tax return to its political opponents is an outrageous breach of ethics and, if proven, constitutes a felony. Every organization — liberal and conservative — should shudder at the idea of the IRS playing politics with its confidential tax return information. But the situation here is even more egregious because the head of the HRC was at the time serving as a national co-chair of President Obama's re-election campaign.

Contrary to assertions that the targeting of Tea Party groups was an error in judgment by low-level IRS bureaucrats, the release of NOM's confidential data to a group headed by an Obama campaign co-chair suggests the possibility of complicity at the highest levels of politics and government. This wasn't a low-level error in judgment; it was a conscious act to reward a prominent Obama supporter while punishing an opponent.

It is imperative that congressional investigators get to the bottom of the issue. If the IRS can get away with leaking NOM's confidential tax return to its chief political opponent, then no taxpayer is safe from political retribution by the federal government.

So only your gripes are worthy, correct? Shall I name more lies you've tried to tell about me? Or do you get the picture?

You're full of sh!t, PlainMoron. You're nothing but a troll and that is all you will ever be.

I'll continue to clog up this thread with more "bitch-slapping" posts if you want to keep going.

Marco Rubio indicates he won’t vote for own immigration bill without changes

by Jeff Poor:

Republican Florida Sen. Marco Rubio indicated that he would not support the “Gang of Eight” immigration bill he had helped author unless it is changed.Earlier in the day, Rubio had said that immigration reform was still short of the 60 votes it needs to pass the Senate.

“Well, let me first say that the news of what I said today on Fox about there not being the 60 votes: Actually, Sen. [Robert] Menendez of New Jersey, a Democrat, said the same thing last week. And that’s a fact. And the reason why is because while there’s a group, well, the majority of our colleagues are prepared to do immigration reform, they’re only prepared to do it if we ensure that this illegal immigration problem never happens again.”

“And so there’s a handful of Democrats, and a sizable number of Republicans that are saying to us we’re prepared to do immigration reform, but we have to make sure there isn't another wave of illegal immigration. So for those who want immigration reform, the task is very simple: Let’s strengthen the border security parts of this bill so that they’re stronger, so that they don’t give overwhelming discretion to the Department of Homeland Security. And I think if we can do that, then you’re going to be able to get something done. But if you can’t, it’s not going to happen.”

“I think if those amendments don’t pass, then I think we’ve got a bill that isn’t going to become law, and I think we’re wasting our time. So the answer is no. If they don’t pass, then we’ve got to keep working to ensure that we get to a bill that can become a law. We’re not interested in passing a Senate bill. We’re interested in passing a law that reforms a broken legal immigration system, that begins to enforce the law and that deals with the 11 million people who are here illegally.”

The Daily Caller has learned exclusively that tomorrow the National Citizenship and Immigration Services Council, the union representing 12,000 U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services officers and staff, will be sending a letter to Sen. Marco Rubio and all “Gang of Eight” members stating that if legalization comes before enforcement, even if the enforcement provisions were completely re-written by Congress, the policy will fail. The letter also claims that because of the interior enforcement provisions the bill would result in a national security threat.

How much money are you will to put on that there supposition, fat boy? LMFAO!

"BUT ya might have made it thru high school but i doubt it!!"

Have you ever tried to read the unintelligible, unlettered, misspelled, grammatical-error-filled posts you type? And I'm the one that didn't finish high-school? Right. I see what you mean.

You're too stupid for your own good.

Ironic coming from a "vicious punk" like yourself.

"Knock yourself out psycho-boy."

More irony coming from the most "psycho" of "boys". Three screen names, trolling me since the beginning, paranoia. Need I say more?

Would you like to try again? I've got more "bitch-slaps" awaiting you.

That's strange. You must be Albino. What kind of plane do you fly?

"Ain't goin down!I.m suprised ya got away with it this long!"

With being in law school? It's easy when you don't have a criminal record.

"Ya can't fool ALL the folks all the time!"

How is public information "low down"? You called me an "evil little bastard" the other day, yet posting public information is "low down"?

Let me quote you: Bwhahahahahahaha!

"Rest my case."

I rested my case on you long ago, Jack_Dennis, Rebus, PlainTruth.

Posting on here has about the same effect as the conversations I have with my dog. A few key words will entice a predetermined reaction.(salvo anyone?) He is my friend so he gives me some attention and a friendly wag every so often, then he does what he would have done either way, not ever understanding what I was trying to say in the first place. He's a silly dog that is loyal and predictable, like many of the posters here.

PT, there's nothing new in requiring phone companies to turn over metadata from phone calls to the FBI and the NSA. It's been done since the 1970's.

With the advent of cell phones , technology is such that every phone call placed in the world can be monitored, if Government(s) wants to do so.

You can choose to get upset over something that has been ongoing for decades if you want to, but I choose to not worry about that which I have no control over, nor the power to change.
