Chattanooga Lookouts top Jackson with Smith homer

JACKSON, Tenn. - Blake Smith's two-run home run to right field with two out in the top of the ninth ining propelled the Chattanooga Lookouts to a 3-1 win over the Jackson Generals in Southern League baseball Saturday night.

The Lookouts' fifth victory in a row got them to .500 (31-31) for the first time this season.

Brian Cavazos-Galvez's homer to left in the seventh inning tied the game at 1 for the Lookouts after the Generals went ahead in the sixth on a two-out single to center by John Hicks that scored Leon Landry.

Game three of the five-game series is tonight at 7:05 EDT. Andres Santiago (2-5, 5.12 ERA) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Lookouts, with James Gilheeney (2-1, 2.39) scheduled for the Generals.

The Lookouts on Saturday added pitchers Duke Von Schamman, who is 8-2 with a 4.34 ERA in 11 starts at high-Single-A Rancho Cucamomga, and Jharel Cotton, who is 2-5 with a 3.55 ERA in 11 games (nine starts) at Single-A Great Lakes. Leaving for Triple-A Albuquerque was relief pitcher Jose Dominguez, who went 1-0 with a 2.60 ERA in 14 appearances with the Lookouts.
