A Bradley County educator plead guilty to sexual battery before a judge today, according to a news release.

An investigation started last September by the Criminal Investigations Division of the Bradley County Sheriff's Office scrutinized the relationship of Christie David, 32, with a former male 15-year-old student.

David, who taught language arts at Walker Valley High School, was suspended after the allegations surfaced, according to Times Free Press archives. David surrendered to police on the criminal charge in October.

The Bradley County Grand Jury indicted David last year on one count of sexual battery by an authority figure.

Today the judge sentenced David to one year, but suspended the sentence and ordered her to register as a sex offender with the state of Tennessee, the release said.
