Teen shot while selling candy in suburban Atlanta

JONESBORO, Ga. — Authorities in suburban Atlanta say a teenage girl has been hospitalized after being shot while she was selling candy.

Clayton County police say the 14-year-old girl was selling candy in Jonesboro when a car approached Monday afternoon. Authorities say a shot was fired from inside the car and the unidentified girl was wounded in her abdomen.

The girl was taken to a local hospital and information on her medical condition was not immediately available.

Police said the girl’s 18-year-old brother was with her at the time of the shooting and was taken for questioning.

It’s unclear if the girl was the intended target of the gunfire.
