Volunteer Energy program awards $2,900 in grants to Hamilton County groups

Volunteer Energy Cooperative's VECustomers Share program last month awarded $2,900 in grants to Hamilton County community organizations.

Receiving grants were the Southeast Tennessee Resource Conservation and Development Council, which got a $1,400 grant; and Cherokee Removal Park-Blythe Ferry, WTCI The Greater Chattanooga Public TV Corp and Children's Advocacy Center of Hamilton County, each of which was awarded a $500 grant.

A news release said the program has given more than $4.5 million to various community-service organizations throughout VEC's 17-county service area since its founding in 2001.
