The eight restaurants in the Tennessee state park system will load up their buffets for Father's Day on Sunday, June 16.

Brock Hill, deputy commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation, says a visit can be an all-encompassing way to celebrate the day.

"Treat dad to a delicious meal, followed by a hike or one of the other recreational activities available at our parks," he says.

Buffet selections will vary, but among the favored entrees are fried chicken, smoked turkey and chicken, chef-carved roast beef, smoked or barbecue ribs, fried catfish, peel-and-eat shrimp and stuffed turkey breast. Dessert selections will include the state park system's signature banana pudding.

Cost is $14.95 at both Fall Creek Falls State Park in Pikeville and Cumberland Mountain State Park in Crossville. Prices do not include drink, tax or gratuity. Special prices for kids and seniors over 62 are available. Group reservations are recommended.

Service begins at 11 a.m. and lasts through closing time, which is 8 p.m. at Cumberland Mountain, 9 p.m. at Fall Creek Falls (all times are Central).
