Hamilton County school board OKs raise for superintendent

The Hamilton County Board of Education today approved giving Superintendent Rick Smith a raise worth nearly $25,000.

Board members voted 5-3 in favor of the measure. Board members Rhonda Thurman, Greg Martin and Jeffrey Wilson voted against the measure, while board member Jonathan Welch was absent.

Smith was in the middle of a four-year contract that had him making about $167,000. The new four-year agreement is worth $190,000 annually.
