Gunman killed, deputy wounded
KNOXVILLE - A suspect has been fatally shot and a deputy was wounded during a Knox County standoff.
According to the Knoxville News Sentinel, Jordan Richard Camp, 21, ran from a deputy and hid in a mobile home Thursday afternoon. The Knox County Sheriff's office said Camp had outstanding warrants for assault, leaving an accident scene and parole violation.
Officials said a SWAT team got into the trailer and found Camp had barricaded himself in a bedroom, where he threatened to kill himself and officers. When Camp pointed a gun out the bedroom door, deputies fired.
A deputy underwent surgery for a leg wound. The department said Friday he is Sgt. Mike Ledbetter and he is in stable condition.
Lee restructuring music school
CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Lee University will reorganize and add a third department to its school of music, according to a news release.
Dr. Carolyn Dirksen, vice president for academic affairs, said the long-planned restructuring aims to improve communication between faculty and development of the curriculum.
Under the current structure, music majors are divided into vocal and instrumental departments, which led to separating students within the same degree program, the release stated.
The structure will include three departments: music performance, music education and musicianship studies.
The change will allow students "to be immersed with others in their field of study right from the beginning, whether it is teaching music, music performance, church music, or music business," the release stated.

$40 million pledged to Auburn
AUBURN, Ala. - Birmingham businessman Raymond J. Harbert has committed to give $40 million to the Auburn University College of Business. School officials say it's the largest gift in the university's history.
The university's board of trustees voted Friday to name the business school the Raymond J. Harbert College of Business.
Harbert is chairman and CEO of Harbert Management Corp., a Birmingham-based independent investment firm. He has served as president pro-tem of the Auburn University board of trustees.
Child, 5, hit, killed by truck
MOUNT JULIET, Tenn. - Authorities in Mount Juliet say a child has died after being stuck by a pickup in a driveway.
WSMV-TV reported the 5-year-old ran behind the truck, which was being backed down a long driveway by a family friend Thursday.
The child died Friday at Vanderbilt University children's hospital.
