Lookouts rally past Smokies

The Chattanooga Lookouts wiped out a six-run deficit and beat the Tennessee Smokies 11-8 in Saturday night's Southern League baseball game at AT&T Field.

Trailing 7-1 midway through the sixth inning, the Lookouts combined singles by Bobby Coyle, Sean Burroughs and Brian Cavazos-Galvez with a walk for Rafael Ynoa for two runs before recording an out. They got no more that inning but erupted for five runs in the seventh, when J.T. Wise hit a pinch-hit RBI double, Coyle followed with a sacrifice fly, Ynoa added an RBI single and Joc Pederson lined a two-run single.

Chattanooga wasn't through. Evening the series at two games apiece, the Lookouts piled on with a three-run eighth featuring a leadoff double by Angelo Songco and run-producing hits by Ynoa and Burroughs (two RBIs). That made a winner of Chattanooga's third of five pitchers, Onelki Garcia (1-3), who went two innings and gave up two hits and an unearned run.

Ynoa and Songco scored three runs apiece and Pederson matched Burroughs' three RBIs. Smokies leadoff batter Matt Szczur was 4-for-5 with a double and three RBIs.

The series concludes today at 2:15.
