Shooting victim taken to Erlanger

Hamilton County dispatchers say a shooting victim has been taken to Erlanger hospital Friday night.

The victim -- dispatchers could not confirm whether it is a man or a woman -- was shot in the stomach around 9:20 p.m. at 716 E. 51st Street. Officers still are working the crime scene, and no information about a suspect is available at this time.

Suspect sought in beating

East Ridge police are looking for someone who beat a man Thursday morning.

Officers received a call at 8:30 a.m. reporting a traumatic head injury at 5307 B Marion Ave. When they got there, according to a news release, police found 33-year-old Craig Garrett sitting in the backyard. Several cuts covered his head, including an open wound on his forehead.

Garrett could not communicate with first responders. But members of Emergency Medical Services and East Ridge Fire Rescue treated Garrett at the scene and drove him to the Erlanger Medical Center emergency room.

Officers still don't know who did this. They also are trying to find Garrett's 2007 blue Ford pickup. Its license plate number is 47027U.

Attempted robbery suspect sought

The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office is looking for a man who allegedly tried to rob a Kangaroo Express on Friday.

A man walked into the convenience store at 9652 East Brainerd Road around 2:15 a.m. and told the clerk he had a gun, according to a news release. The man demanded everything in the cash register. But the clerk refused, and the man left.

Police say the suspect is white and in his 20s. He is about 6 feet tall and skinny. On Friday morning, he wore gray cargo pants and a gray long-sleeve shirt. A witness at the gas station said the suspect drove away in a silver Chevy Cruise.

Store robbery suspects charged

Chattanooga police arrested three suspects in a Highway 58 armed robbery Thursday night, according to a Friday news release.

Sgt. Wayne Jefferson's release said three men, one armed with a handgun, entered the Dollar General Store at 10:15 p.m. and told the clerk to empty the registers and the safe.

All three were dressed in black and wearing blue surgical gloves. They took the money and left in a blue Chevrolet Impala.

Police saw a car matching the description traveling south on Highway 58 and pulled it over. They found cash and blue surgical gloves in the car and arrested the three on charges of aggravated robbery and criminal conspiracy.

The suspects are Jassiem Robinson, 18; Tod Smith, 20; and Cartavius Fisher, 21.
