Merritt a finalist in contest
Chattanoogan Tiffany Merritt is one of 10 finalists selected from entrants across the country in the "Reynolds Real Mom" competition.
The finalists are competing for votes with their best kitchen tips on the Reynolds Wrap Facebook page to become one of five "Reynolds Real Moms" for 2013.
Reynolds will feature a tip from each mom every Wednesday through March 27. Fans are asked to vote and help choose the five winners.
The finalists were chosen after a nationwide search to find mothers to share how to make cooking and baking simpler. The five winners will be featured in Reynolds advertising, attend media events and continue to provide recipes and tips in the online kitchen.

Pennington Showcase soloist
Isaiah Pennington, a junior at Chattanooga Center for Creative Arts, is one of eight soloists who will be featured Monday night in the Showcase of Area Artists in the Clayton Center for the Arts on the campus of Maryville College in Maryville, Tenn.
The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 adults, free to Maryville College faculty and students, $5 all other students.
Isaiah, who has played cello for seven years, will perform Cello Concerto No. 1 in A minor, op. 33, by Camille Saint-Saens. He is the son of Cynthia Pennington and Gary Mauldin, and Brian Pennington and Amy Allocco.
In addition to playing in the CCA Chamber Orchestra and String Orchestra, CSO Youth Orchestra and Cadek Community Orchestra, Isaiah is a former member of the Orchestra at Maryville College, the Knoxville Youth Symphony and the Maryville High School Orchestra.
In 2012, he was an All-State and All-East musician for Tennessee. Last summer, he attended the Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival.
LaBarr selected for seminar
Dr. Cameron F. LaBarr, assistant professor of music at Lee University and conductor of Choral Union, has been awarded a fellowship to attend the Salzburg Global Forum for Young Cultural Leaders II. The award was presented by the Appalachian College Association in recognition of his domestic and international work in music and the arts.
The global forum, part of the Salzburg Global Seminar of Austria, is designed to encourage an international exchange of ideas from cultural leaders worldwide.
LaBarr is one of 50 participants selected from a pool of candidates from around the world.
Ceren wins Zone Spelling Bee
Baylor School eighth-grader Peter Ceren won first place in the Zone Spelling Bee held at the school.
Ceren defeated 61 other contestants representing 12 area private and parochial schools and the Greater Chattanooga Homeschool Spelling Bee organization.
He advances to the regional spelling bee, which will be held March 16 at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. The winner of that contest will receive a trip to Washington, D.C., for the Scripps National Spelling Bee, plus $500 and a $100 savings bond.
