A 29-year-old Hollywood, Ala., man was arrested Thursday and charged with drug-related offenses, a news release from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office states.
The incident marked the 70th drug arrest in the county in February, the release noted.
Deputies with the department’s narcotics unit stopped a vehicle on Jackson County Road 449 in the Dutton community, spokesman Rocky Harnen said in the release.
After K-9 officer Luke alerted on the vehicle for the presence of controlled substances, a search was done that yielded several clear plastic bags containing a small quantity of methamphetamine and a set of digital scales.
Also, a .380-caliber pistol was found inside the vehicle.
Jessie Wayne Wright was arrested and taken to the Jackson County Jail.
During a search of Wright there, a small bag of meth was found on his body, authorities said.
Wright was charged with unlawful possession of controlled substances and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
He remained jailed as of late Friday and no bond had been set.
