A 44-year-old Louisiana man is on trial for charges he first tried to kidnap his estranged wife then tried to hire a fellow inmate to kill her while in the Hamilton County Jail.
Shannon Ory faces charges of attempted murder, attempted especially aggravated kidnapping and identity theft charges based on arrests in 2010.
The trial was scheduled to begin more than a year ago but a week before its November 2011 start date Ory’s ex-wife, Kristina Speights, 42, called police when he showed up at her Nashville workplace. Ory fled to Texas where he was later arrested and brought back to Tennessee.
