Fire destroys church northeast of Atlanta

LOGANVILLE, Ga. - Investigators believe it was an electrical fire that destroyed a church that was being renovated northeast of Atlanta.

Firefighters were called to the Holy Family Knanaya Catholic Church in the Loganville area around 3:20 a.m. Sunday. They arrived to find the sanctuary engulfed by fire, with flames through the roof.

Walton County Fire Battalion Chief Craig League tells The Atlanta Journal-Constitution (http://bit.ly/ZwwJgv) that investigators believe it was an electrical fire that destroyed the church, near the Gwinnett-Walton county line.

Workers had been renovating the sanctuary before the fire broke out.

No injuries were reported. The building is believed to be a total loss.
