A man who fell in a high-fall accident at Rainbow Falls on Signal Mountain has died, authorities said.

The man was described as a 50-year-old Signal Mountain resident who was walking near the falls with a second person.

Maxwell said the call came in at 4 p.m. Emergency medical responders reached the man and described his injuries as critical.

She said the body will be extricated this evening and that the Signal Mountain Police Department will handle the investigation and release the name.
