The Red Cross annual Hometown Heroes Luncheon celebrated five honorees today at The Chattanoogan hotel.
Attendees recognized Candis Vickers, Carol Browder, Eddie Pittman, Jack Thompson and Michael Puryear for their selflessness and bravery.
Three hundred guests were in attendance to honor the achievements of these hometown heroes and to listen to keynote speaker, Keith Alvey, CEO for the Red Cross Louisville area chapter.
Alvey headed up relief efforts to New York City when the area was slammed by Hurricane Sandy.
He said that often, community heroes don’t realize the impact they have on people’s lives.
“But we as a community couldn’t live without them,” he said.
