Chattanooga's Spring Break Safari returns for the next month, March 15-April 15, and this year there's a twist.
A 13-site scavenger hunt gives adventurers a more in-depth look at each attraction and the different parts of the city they visit. Participants will answer a series of clues and document their answers by taking photos. The Safari Guide can be downloaded at www.chattanoogafun.com/spring.
Though designed with school-age kids in mind, these around-town adventures are family-friendly. Ten area attractions are taking part; regular admission rates apply.
Here's a glimpse at the adventures each has in store.
• Bluff View Art District: Culinary creators will whip up chocolate sweets. (Most events have limited availability; one lasts past April 15.)
• Chattanooga Choo Choo: Train engineers climb aboard the electric trolley to ring the bell on a drive through the complex.
• Chattanooga Zoo: Young zoologists will encounter chimpanzees, jaguars, reptiles and camels.
• Creative Discovery Museum: World travelers explore the age of dinosaurs.
• Hunter Museum of American Art: Explorers uncover the stories behind works of art.
• Rock City: RockQuest adventurers head out on an enchanted trail.
• Ruby Falls: Spelunkers explore the depths of a cavern.
• Southern Belle: Pilot house mates help navigate a riverboat on the Tennessee River.
• Tennessee Aquarium: Keeper Kids get to feed and mingle with sharks and sea turtles.
• Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum: Kids get to play conductor aboard a train car.
In addition to these attractions, the scavenger hunt will send explorers to three locations around the city: the riverfront, North Shore/Coolidge Park and the Southside.
