MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — The Howard boys’ basketball team saw their 2012-2013 season come to a close in the Class AA state semifinals, falling 67-53 to Jackson South Side.
The Hawks went on a back-breaking 15-2 fourth-quarter run to put the game away. They were led by Jaylen Barfield’s 18 points, with A.J. Merriweather adding 17 and Malik Hicks 12.
Xavier Harris had 18 points and 10 rebounds to lead Howard (28-6), while Brandon Walters had 11 points, eight rebounds and seven blocks. Chris Walton added 10.
