The Ammo

about Clay Bennett...

The son of a career army officer, Bennett led a nomadic life, attending ten different schools before graduating in 1980 from the University of North Alabama with degrees in Art and History. After brief stints as a staff artist at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and the Fayetteville (NC) Times, he went on to serve as the editorial cartoonist for the St. Petersburg Times (1981-1994) and The Christian Science Monitor (1997-2007), before joining the staff of the ...

For anyone who missed it, Clay's depiction of the action and design of a double-barrel shotgun is quite accurate, and very detailed. He must be a gun owner. No other way he could have gotten it this right.

OK Liberals pay attention. This is a shotgun. It is about the only gun that is not a semi-automatic. If you have a rifle of any brand, a pistol, a handgun, a revolver of any brand in your home it is most likely a semi-automatic. If any of these hold more than one round, sometimes called a bullet, it is most likely a semi-automatic. If any of these fire as fast as you can pull the trigger it is a semi-automatic. The Liberal mess media/Demoncrats use the term semi-automatic to fool the ignorant and frail of mind into thinking that semi-automatic is worse than __ or whatever you thought semi-automatic meant.

BTW that shotgun in the hands of a would be robber is more fearful than a pistol or handgun. People miss more often with handguns than shotguns.

What the misinformed liberals do not understand is that none of the murderous gang members that shoot people and the psychos that commit these school shootings and other murders are not members of the NRA. One of the agendas of the NRA is to promote gun safety. Why do you mentally challenged liberals instead of demonizing and attacking the NRA not demonize and attack the murderous thugs in America that are killing people? This is another example of the liberal misguided, unintellectual, hate filled, simple minds. It is more important for liberals to use tragedies to pursue their failed concept of complete government control than it is to attack and demonize the real problem. God forbid holding the murderers accountable. That is how sick the liberals are.

Nope, limric. (I can't view video with my connection) In general I am not fond of guns, but am less fond of being a victim. When you are out on open water, especially in areas where drugs are dropped for pick-up, it is scary to be older and alone far from shore and an easy target. We are slow and easy to board.

I prefer deterrents over actual use. When we are barricaded inside, I want any would be "pirate" to know that we are armed and will not be an easy target. Our boat is constructed of welded steel, so they can't just shoot their way in. The flip side of that is, in my clumsiness I won't shoot holes in my own vessel and sink her.

I am not a member of the NRA. I do not target shoot. I do not hunt (though my husband does a little and has the appropriate weapon for it) I do not carry a handgun. My husband's service handguns have been donated to local police departments now that he is no longer active.

Thanks, degage. Although our insurance right now keeps us in the US, we'll be careful to check about both guns and pets!

High capacity is another term Liberals use to fool the ignorant and frail of mind. It means whatever the Liberal/Demoncrat wants it to mean or they just repeat the term often and let the gullible define it for themselves.

The rifle/pistol is SEPARATE from the clip that holds the rounds/bullets. Stated another way, the clip that holds the rounds/bullets is SEPARATE from the rifle/pistol.

Therefore, the rifle/pistol is not high capacity, low capacity, or any capacity without the clip that is SEPARATE from the rifle/pistol.

Furthermore:

The rifle/pistol is useless without the clip.

The rifle/pistol is useless without rounds/bullets in the clip.

Most clips that come with rifles hold 10 rounds/bullets but you don't have to put ten rounds in the clip.

There are zillions of clips out there that hold more than 10 rounds/bullets and are easily purchased.

One can carry several 10, 15, 20 or whatever clips with him and quickly change them to reload. This happened in our most recent mass shootings.

All rifles are potential assault rifles and all rifles are potentially high capacity meaning whatever you want "high capacity" to mean depending on your gullible audience or frame of mind.

March 21, 2013 at 11:33 a.m.
lkeithlu said...

conservative, I am well aware that high capacity refers to clips. And yes, limiting clips to 10 rounds (which is arbitrary) means that a shooter must reload after 10, giving at least a small gap where he/she can be taken down. It is better than 30 rounds between re-loading, not as good as 5. It will save some lives in mass shootings, and having clips limited to 10 does not interfere with the amount of ammo one may carry, the performance on a shooting range or (heaven forbid) someone needs more than 10 rounds to bring down a deer.

You have to think through who the gun lobby actually represents.

Who really wants a completely free-flow of large amounts of weapons without tracking, inventories, serial numbers or background checks?

The problem, I hate to say, isn't the idiots who think talking big makes them more manly than being serious about protecting kids' lives, as irritating as those people are.

It is the people in suits and ties that are making millions funding weapon sales around the world who have the U.S. Congress on their speed dial.

Just like the Russian mafia is hiding behind the legitimate outrage at the Cyprus banking debacle, the weapons syndicates are hiding behind Harry Reid and John Boehner.

Are those what you mean?

I wonder. Are background checks for recipients of those arms effective? And oh by the way, the major arms manufacturers & dealers have ‘gun shows’ that make the biggest shows us lowly big talking civilians look like local flea market stuff. Just think, how many purchasers of these weapons are given loan guarantees? In other words, if they ain’t got the money – you pay for em! Cool deal huh?!

Here’s a VERY recent example: Beechcraft lost a $950 million contract to build 20 LAS (Light Air Support) aircraft to Embraer, a Brazilian company. These are two seat single engine turboprops. Do the math! These are destined for --- wait for it --- The Afghan military. Do you think they have the cash? Do you think they’d pass a background check? Buying crack in the projects is safer than this deal.

And are the primary dealers of these arms (take a guess who that is) really serious about protecting kids' lives?

I don’t really need to answer that do I.

What would Jesus say? Well, I can tell you what Jesus said.

There were no guns during the time when Jesus who was God in the flesh came to earth at his appointed time to die and pay the penalty for the sins of mankind that we might have eternal life through of our faith and trust in him. You can look it up.

However, at that time the most common weapon was the knife both short and long, referred to as the sword in Scripture.

Just before the arrest, trial and crucification of Jesus, Jesus told Peter and His disciples to arm themselves!!!

And he said to them, “When I sent you out with no moneybag or knapsack or sandals, did you lack anything?” They said, “Nothing.” He said to them, “But now let the one who has a moneybag take it, and likewise a knapsack. And let the one who has no sword sell his cloak and buy one." Luke 22:35-36.

While the disciples were with Jesus they were under His care and protection. His ministry was more local. After His resurrection He would be sending them into a hostile world far away from Jerusalem to preach the Gospel. He told them here to take money and provisions for their journeys and to arm themselves for protection.

We have a God given right to defend ourselves and families from those who would do us harm.

conservative,

"We have a God given right to defend ourselves and families from those who would do us harm."

What a liar!

Matthew 5:38-42

“You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.' But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also. And if anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well. If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles. Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you."

Defending yourself against evil people is directly opposed to the teachings of Jesus. Conservative is a heretic.

Matthew 5:44

"But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.."

Revelation 13:10

"He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword."

Matthew 26:52

Put your sword back in its place,” Jesus said to him, “for all who draw the sword will die by the sword.

The Bible preaches against the use of weapons. Again, conservative is a heretic.

In the story, Jesus told those that didn't have swords to buy them in order to fulfill the prophesy in Isaiah that said, "and he was numbered with the transgressors".

Try reading Luke 22:37 where it says that exact thing. By the way, they only came up with two swords before Jesus said that was enough.

"He told them here to take money and provisions for their journeys and to arm themselves for protection."

Absolutely and unequivocally incorrect interpretation of the verses in Luke. It's complete conjecture and actually goes contrary to what is actually written in those verses. In other words, you made it up to suit your own beliefs. It's called heresy.

Perhaps we should only be allowed the type of arms that the Founding Fathers were aware of at the time this country was founded.

No one would then have a thing to argue about.

Easy, why do you even try? You are a professed atheist, a heathen and an antichrist who can only go to other atheist to get false information. You don't have a relationship to Jesus Christ and have no capacity to even understand the word of God.

1 Corinthians 2:14 KJV "But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned ."

That passage of Mathew 5:38-42 that you brought up is part of the sermon on the mount where Jesus dealt with matters of the heart and not just outward acts alone. Hate (something you are full of ) is equivalent to murder, lust after a woman is adultery, is another example.

The "eye for an eye" law was a matter for the courts and not personal vengeance. We are not to take personal vengeance but to have a forgiving spirit with others who do us wrong. This has nothing to do with protecting your life or the lives of your family or others from those who would kill you. I mean how many would be left if people did nothing to save their own life or the life of another. This is the self preservation and common sense.

WE DO RESIST evil by our laws and our courts, Christians are to resist evil in our churches by confronting wrong doers. We are to resist evil by reporting crimes. Jesus resisted evil when he drove out the money changers in the temple.

The evil here is taponeros and refers to one who opposes you and wrongs you such as YOU do to me. It means don't get into a squabble, or a feud or seek vengeance on someone who wrongs you. This is taught in Romans 12:17 - " Recompense to no man evil for evil." v19 "Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord."

Now regarding your - "In the story, Jesus told those that didn't have swords to buy them in order to fulfill the prophesy in Isaiah that said, "and he was numbered with the transgressors."

Jesus was not charged with a possession of a sword, Jesus was falsely accused in Luke 23:2 of insurrection -

"And they began to accuse him, saying, We found this fellow perverting the nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Caesar, saying that he himself is Christ a King." Of course that was a lie and Pilate concluded - 13And Pilate, when he had called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people, 14 Said unto them, Ye have brought this man unto me, as one that perverteth the people: and, behold, I, having examined him before you, have found no fault in this man touching those things whereof ye accuse him: 15 No, nor yet Herod: for I sent you to him; and, lo, nothing worthy of death is done unto him.

JESUS WAS SINLESS AND GUILTLESS! Yet he was crucified between a robber and a thief - two transgressors.

"why do you even try? You are a professed atheist, a heathen and an antichrist who can only go to other atheist to get false information."

I haven't given any false information and you can't prove otherwise. My information is my own based on my own study of the Bible.

"You don't have a relationship to Jesus Christ and have no capacity to even understand the word of God."

I don't need a relationship with Jesus Christ to be able to read about or study religion, more specifically, Christianity and the Bible.

"Hate (something you are full of ) is equivalent to murder, lust after a woman is adultery, is another example."

I am not full of hate, sir. However, it is very apparent that you are. Your hatred of homosexuals, Liberals/Democrats, women, gun control activists, and non-Chrisitans is obvious to anyone that has ever read your posts.

"This has nothing to do with protecting your life or the lives of your family or others from those who would kill you."

Jesus was condemning the "eye for an eye" law in the verse I mentioned. How can you say it has nothing to do with protecting yourself? It blatantly says that you shouldn't retaliate under any circumstance. How can you argue otherwise?

"I mean how many would be left if people did nothing to save their own life or the life of another. This is the self preservation and common sense."

Yet that common sense is directly opposed to the preaching of your, so called, "savior". Your beliefs about self-preservation ARE NOT in the Bible. Saying that they are or even implying that those beliefs are in the Bible or ordained by your god is heresy.

"WE DO RESIST evil by our laws and our courts, Christians are to resist evil in our churches by confronting wrong doers. We are to resist evil by reporting crimes. Jesus resisted evil when he drove out the money changers in the temple."

You don't realize that you are exposing the hypocrisy of your own holy book. Those things are in direct conflict with the verses I mentioned. Jesus wants you to turn the other cheek.

"The evil here is taponeros and refers to one who opposes you and wrongs you such as YOU do to me."

I have not wronged you, liar.

"It means don't get into a squabble, or a feud or seek vengeance on someone who wrongs you."

Kind of like someone trying to kill you, rob you, etc? That would be wronging someone as well, correct? You're digging your hole deeper and deeper.

"Jesus was not charged with a possession of a sword, Jesus was falsely accused in Luke 23:2 of insurrection -"

No one said he was. But the prophesy was to be fulfilled at that time for him to be "numbered with the transgressors". That is why it was mentioned directly after Jesus called for his disciples to buy swords. It says so directly in verse 37.

FIRE IN A THEATER

Three separate polls show 90% of Americans want background checks on all gun purchases. While no one believes background checks will keep guns away from every psychopath out there, around 40% of guns in this country are sold to god knows who, god knows why. Safe to say some don’t end up in the hands of responsible gun owners.

But despite overwhelming public support for background checks the NRA is pressuring their congressmen, legally bought and paid for, to kill the bill. Funny story: Just a few short years ago the NRA strongly supported background checks. They are SO republican…

I guess the NRA believes that you can’t walk into a theater and yell ‘FIRE,’ but it’s okay to walk into a theater with an assault rifle.

Easy: In Mark 15:27-28 there is a clear reference to two thieves who were crucified with Jesus. They were clearly transgressors.

27And with him they crucify two thieves; the one on his right hand, and the other on his left. 28 And the scripture was fulfilled, which saith, And he was numbered with the transgressors. Mark 15:27-28

However, the reference to the Scripture that "was fulfilled" was from Isaiah Chapters 52 and 53. That whole chapter 53 deals with Christ and his suffering for the sins of mankind and his dying on the cross:

"He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief:"

"Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted."

"But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed"

"He was oppressed, and he was afflicted"

"for the transgression of my people was he stricken"

"he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth."

"by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities."

"he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors."

So the deeper meaning of the "transgressors" is that Christ was treated as a transgressor when he paid the price of death for the sins of mankind.

"Numbered with the transgressors" had nothing to do with a sword in the possession of a disciple. His phony trial about inciting insurrection had nothing to do with a sword. Pilate found no fault in him.

The verse in Luke 22:37 is clearly not talking about those two thieves.

"However, the reference to the Scripture that "was fulfilled" was from Isaiah Chapters 52 and 53."

Luke 22:37 is directly referencing the prophesy in Isaiah 53:12.

"So the deeper meaning of the "transgressors" is that Christ was treated as a transgressor when he paid the price of death for the sins of mankind."

There is no deeper meaning. Verse 37 was a reference to the disciples that were mentioned in verses preceding it.

"Numbered with the transgressors" had nothing to do with a sword in the possession of a disciple.

Absolutely false. That is precisely what that Luke 22:37 is reference to.

"His phony trial about inciting insurrection had nothing to do with a sword. Pilate found no fault in him."

Luke 22:37 had everything to do with the swords Jesus ordered the disciples to buy. Jesus was prophesied to be counted with those transgressors. No fault or guilt had to be found in Jesus for him to be "numbered with the transgressors.

Then gentle Jesus, meek and mild, came along and started preaching against such things.

"God often commanded his people to slay the wicked of nations with swords, the weapon of choice of that day."

And what did Jesus, your "savior", say?

Matthew 5:38-42:

“You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.' But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also. And if anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well. If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles. Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you."

Matthew 5:44:

"But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.."

Matthew 26:52:

Put your sword back in its place,” Jesus said to him, “for all who draw the sword will die by the sword."*

The Old Testament also has a law against wearing multiple fabrics, trimming your beard or sideburns, and getting tattoos. Non-virgins were to be stoned to death along with false prophets and rebellious children.

Do I have the right to stone those people? That's in the Bible too. This "God-given right to be armed" you speak of does not find any origin in the Bible and is directly opposed to the teachings of Jesus. Your heresy is getting worse and worse.

Keep going, my little Christian heretic.

Now back to the right to be armed and defend yourself and family: These two verses below deal with the killing of a thief. If a thief broke into a house at night it was not known what his intention was, it could have been murder, rape or even kidnapping. V2 specifically states that if the homeowner kills that intruder, it is not murder for it happened at night and it could not be determined what the intruder's intentions were. The homeowner is innocent.

However, in v3, if the intruder was found in daylight the implication is that his intention was theft only and the homeowner would be quilty of murder if he killed him.

2“If the thief is caught while breaking in and is struck so that he dies, there will be no bloodguiltiness on his account. 3 But if the sun has risen on him, there will be bloodguiltiness on his account. Exodus 22: 2-3

It is obvious here that God had given his people the right to protect their lives and the lives of others to the point of using deadly force.

You mean the "right" you invented that runs contrary to the teachings of Jesus?

"If a thief broke into a house at night it was not known what his intention was, it could have been murder, rape or even kidnapping."

Are you really that stupid/deceitful? A thief is someone that steals things. There was no mention of murder, rape or kidnapping. That verse is about a thief trying to steal property. Your interpretation of that verse is absolutely wrong. The intentions of the thief are apparent by the use of the word "thief". The words "murderer", "rapist", or "kidnapper" were not used.

"It is obvious here that people have the right to protect their lives and the lives of others to the point of using deadly force."

According to those verses, you would only be able to do that at night and only to a thief. The verse says nothing about protecting lives or the lives of others either. The verse is about protecting property and, according to that verse, there is only a small window of time in which you can actually do that without being guilty of "bloodshed".

Again, what did Jesus say about it? I guess the Old Testament overrules your savior, correct?

What is the punishment for heresy? Aquinas would put you to death.

Some locals were against them and their lives were threatened so they armed themselves as they carried out their work.

There is more but here is enough to see that God's people have always had the right to defend themselves and their families. This passage is simply worded and easy to understand.

"16 From that day on, half of my servants carried on the work while half of them held the spears, the shields, the bows and the breastplates; and the captains were behind the whole house of Judah. 17 Those who were rebuilding the wall and those who carried burdens took their load with one hand doing the work and the other holding a weapon. 18 As for the builders, each wore his sword girded at his side as he built, while the trumpeter stood near me. 19 I said to the nobles, the officials and the rest of the people, “The work is great and extensive, and we are separated on the wall far from one another. 20 At whatever place you hear the sound of the trumpet, rally to us there. Our God will fight for us.” . Nehemiah 4:16-20

And nowhere does it say that God ordered it or that it was a right for them. Are you admitting that the Old Testament takes precedence over the teachings of Jesus?

"These people were not soldiers just citizens."

They were not "citizens", more like a militia. You know full well that those same Jews were a warmongering people that went to war constantly with neighboring factions.

"There is more but here is enough to see that God's people have always had the right to defend themselves and their families."

Wrong. You have conjured that up from nothing. That "right" is contrary to the preachments of Jesus. You are cherry-picking verses from the Old Testament that mentioned people using weapons. That isn't how the Bible works. You're being blatantly deceitful. Your beliefs do not coincide with the Bible. You are a heretic.

Now back to Mathew 5:38:

"Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:"

This was another matter of the law that the Scribes and Pharisees had perverted. Jesus was instructing against personal vengeance. We are not to repay a wrong done to us by another personally. We are not to retaliate or take vengeance on another personally We are to let the law judge the wrongdoer. Most people would retaliate beyond the wrong done to them anyway.

The Pharisees had perverted the law into personal vengeance.

Evil is to be punished, contrary to the wishes of Liberals, but we are not to personally carry out the punishment. Society should not let evil go unpunished, it only breeds more lawlessness. Have you noticed?

We are to forgive the wrongs of others and not seek vengeance or even hold a grudge but that doesn't mean I give up my right of self preservation or the right to prevent the unlawful killing of another human being even to the point of using deadly force.

Conjecture. You have no proof of this. You made it up. Much like the majority of your "Biblical" beliefs.

"that doesn't mean I give up my right of self preservation or the right to prevent the unlawful killing of another human being even to the point of using deadly force."

Wrong. Everything you just said is in direct opposition to that statement. No vengeance, no retaliation, no repaying wrong with wrong, we are not to personally carry out the punishment, forgive the wrongs of others. All of that is the antithesis of the statement I quoted above. According to Jesus, you do not have a right to self-preservation. According to Jesus, you do not have the right to use deadly force or prevent the unlawful killing of another human being. You have made that "right" up.

Your beliefs about the right to bear arms or even defend yourself are not in the Bible. Your beliefs about such things are diametrically opposed by the preachments of Jesus.

Your beliefs are heretical and you are a liar.

Your right to bear arms is in the Constitution, not the Bible.

And $180,000 per hour to fly Michelle to Ca to give an award at the Hollywood extravaganza. I believe the 10 hours round trip would have been close to 2 million. Of course that was OK because she deserves a break, I don't know from what but I'm sure they or you can come up with something. Meanwhile the peoples house as Michelle calls it is closed to the people. That trip would have paid to keep the WH open for 27 weeks.

degage,

"how about the 6+ trillion spent the first 4 years of this administration."

I'm not the one complaining about spending. Why is it that spending only matters when the President isn't a Republican?

"Don't you think 585,000 for a one night hotel bill is a bit extravagant?"

Not as extravagant as $3-$4 trillion for a senseless war or two.

"And $180,000 per hour to fly Michelle to Ca to give an award at the Hollywood extravaganza. I believe the 10 hours round trip would have been close to 2 million."

Were you saying the same thing about the 77 trips Bush took to his ranch in Crawford, TX? Some estimate all of those trips costing a total of $124 million.

"Of course that was OK because she deserves a break, I don't know from what but I'm sure they or you can come up with something."

I'm sure it was ok for Bush considering there were two wars going on. 77 vacations are warranted for someone dealing with so much stress, correct?

"That trip would have paid to keep the WH open for 27 weeks."

How long would the White House be able to stay open for $3-$4 trillion?

You really have a problem realizing how much of a hypocrite you are. It's like you don't realize when what you say is contrary to other things you say. You are overtly biased and hypocritical.

By the way, according to the FBI, whites murder people at the rate of 2 per 100,000. This is comparable to societies that have strict gun control laws which we don't have. Blacks on the other hand, commit murder at the rate of 20 per 100,000. They are less than 20% of the population and over 50% total murders. No matter the excuses you liberals are going to give, those are the facts.

This is a cultural problem in the black community period. To deny that is racist in itself. Like alcoholics, until you liberals admit that this is the problem, it can never be solved.

Making laws that restrict access to guns for people who aren't the problem is stupid. The rest of the country shouldn't suffer for the actions of 20% of the populations. For that matter, blacks are only basically killing themselves. Liberals don't care about blacks or they would admit there is a problem and do something about it.

For the most part, liberals don't care about blacks killing each other. Their gun removal agenda and political correctness is more important than black men's lives. Typical liberals behavior, one step forward, two steps back.

That is racism. White criminals/murderers are part of the problem.

"The rest of the country shouldn't suffer for the actions of 20% of the populations."

Racism. Murder is not confined to one race.

"Liberals don't care about blacks or they would admit there is a problem and do something about it."

They are. They just aren't blaming a certain race for murder like you are. Gun control applies to everyone.

"For the most part, liberals don't care about blacks killing each other."

That is contrary to the facts.

"Their gun removal agenda and political correctness is more important than black men's lives."

That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

"Typical liberals behavior, one step forward, two steps back."

George Emil Banks was not black. He killed 13. George Pierre Hennard was not black. He killed 23. James Oliver Huberty was not black. He killed 21. James Eagan Holmes was not black. He killed 12 and injured 58.

There are plenty more, but you get the picture.

I am more concerned with disturbed white men opening fire on me in a public place, than I am with any thought that any black man throughout this entire country that I encounter, doing the same.

"This is a cultural problem in the black community period. To deny that is racist in itself. Like alcoholics, until you liberals admit that this is the problem, it can never be solved."

Mass murder seems to be a white cultural problem. Until you admit that this is a real problem, it will never be solved.

"Making laws that restrict access to guns for people who aren't the problem is stupid."

No one with the power to do so has come close to suggesting that people should not have access to guns. That does not mean that people should have a right to own and operate military and police types of weapons.

"The rest of the country shouldn't suffer for the actions of 20% of the populations. For that matter, blacks are only basically killing themselves. Liberals don't care about blacks or they would admit there is a problem and do something about it."

Okay hotshot...what would YOU do to solve the problem of black on black murders? You've obviously got all the answers, so please enlighten us with a few.

I'm sure one of those answers from timbo will be for them [African-Americans] to start voting Republican.

No problem and I want to thank you for acknowledging a mistake so readily. There's no shame in making a mistake, but it is rare that so many people will admit to them as you have done.

CNN did a report on Vice President Biden's expensive trip to Paris. They pointed out the fact that in past Administrations, figures for the cost of foreign trips are normally kept a State secret. Thus, it is a little hard to make comparisons.

Another point they brought up, was that Presidents and Vice Presidents do not make any of the arrangements when traveling abroad on business. There are a number of people involved when such trips are planned and everything is cleared through the Secret Service.

In light of all the things that have people upset at the moment, such an expenditure does seem excessive, but then I have no idea what is normally spent whenever top level officials travel here and yonder.

Keeping our officials safe is, I am sure, the number one priority at all times, and that kind of security does not come cheap. I wouldn't doubt that the US rents out entire hotels at a time, just to insure that a 'friendly' local doesn't slip out the door of their room to take a potshot at a US National figure as he walks down a hall.

I don't see that happening any time soon.

...""Since the dawn of creation there has been both good &evil in the hearts of men and women. We all contain the seeds of kindness or the seeds of violence. The death of my wonderful daughter, Rachel Joy Scott, and the deaths of that heroic teacher, and the other eleven children who died must not be in vain. Their blood cries out for answers. "The first recorded act of violence was when Cain slew his brother Abel out in the field. The villain was not the club he used.. Neither was it the NCA, the National Club Association. The true killer was Cain, and the reason for the murder could only be found in Cain's heart. "In the days that followed the Columbine tragedy, I was amazed at how quickly fingers began to be pointed at groups such as the NRA. I am not a member of the NRA. I am not a hunter. I do not even own a gun. I am not here to represent or defend the NRA - because I don't believe that they are responsible for my daughter's death. Therefore I do not believe that they need to be defended. If I believed they had anything to do with Rachel's murder I would be their strongest opponent I am here today to declare that Columbine was not just a tragedy -- it was a spiritual event that should be forcing us to look at where the real blame lies! Much of the blame lies here in this room. Much of the blame lies behind the pointing fingers of the accusers themselves. I wrote a poem just four nights ago that expresses my feelings best.

Your laws ignore our deepest needs, Your words are empty air. You've stripped away our heritage, You've outlawed simple prayer. Now gunshots fill our classrooms, And precious children die. You seek for answers everywhere, And ask the question "Why?" You regulate restrictive laws, Through legislative creed. And yet you fail to understand, That God is what we need!

"Men and women are three-part beings. We all consist of body, mind, and spirit. When we refuse to acknowledge a third part of our make-up, we create a void that allows evil, prejudice, and hatred to rush in and wreak havoc. Spiritual presences were present within our educational systems for most of our nation's history. Many of our major colleges began as theological seminaries. This is a historical fact. What has happened to us as a nation? We have refused to honor God, and in so doing, we open the doors to hatred and violence. And when something as terrible as Columbine's tragedy occurs -- politicians immediately look for a scapegoat such as the NRA. They immediately seek to pass more restrictive laws that contribute to erode away our personal and private liberties. We do not need more restrictive laws. Eric and Dylan would not have been stopped by metal detectors. No amount of gun laws can stop someone who spends months planning this type of massacre. The real villain lies within our own hearts. "

You'd think your leader would have enough "common" sense to figure this out!!
