The Tennessee Department of Transportation is suspending all interstate highway construction work this Easter weekend in anticipation of increased holiday travel, a news release states.

All road construction that requires lane closures will be stopped from Thursday at 6 p.m. through Monday at 6 a.m., according to the release from the department.

“Suspending interstate construction in Tennessee during the Easter holiday will permit a free flow of traffic and reduce potential delays,” TDOT Commissioner John Schroer said. “I also encourage motorists to download the SmartWay mobile app to get up-to-the minute traffic information before they hit the road this weekend.”

Motorists still will encounter some long-term lane closures on construction projects that will remain in place, some workers may be on-site in construction zones and reduced speed limits still will be in effect, the release states.

To download the new TDOT SmartWay mobile application, go to the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store for Android.
