Jackson County officials arrest two on drug charges

The Jackson County Sheriff's Office in Alabama has arrested Derek Lebron Stewart, 23, of Harrison, Tenn., and Alexsis Arcanda Whitley, 26, of Scottsboro, Ala., on drug charges.

The two were arrested after the vehicle in which they were traveling on Highwa 71 at the Flat Rock Cross Roads was stopped for several traffic violations.

Stewart and Whitley were charged with possession of controlled substances (methamphetamine), possession of marijuana first degree, possession of drug paraphernalia, illegal possession of alcoholic beverages and possession of prescription medications x 4. Whitley was also cited for a traffic violation.

The two are in the Jackson County Jail pending bond being set.
