A traffic accident in Chattanooga Sunday sent three people to the hospital with serious injuries.

The East Ridge tunnels are closed this afternoon because of a traffic accident, Chattanooga police said.

Police said the accident happened around 2 p.m. and that one vehicle was flipped onto its top on Westside Drive.

Spokesman Sgt. Wayne Jefferson said no information was available on the identities and injuries to any victims.

Jefferson said the investigation was ongoing and more information would be available when it was complete.
