NEWARK, N.J. - An airline whose plane clipped another plane on a taxiway at New Jersey's Newark Liberty International Airport says it has started an investigation into how it happened.
The Scandinavian Airlines plane's left wing clipped the tail of a United Airlines plane Wednesday night at one of the nation's busiest airports. The Federal Aviation Administration says no one was injured.
Scandinavian Airlines Flight 908 had been bound for Oslo, Norway. It was behind ExpressJet Flight 4226, destined for Nashville, Tenn. It touched the ExpressJet plane while turning right.
A significant portion of the Scandinavian Airlines plane's left wing was torn off.
Scandinavian Airlines said Thursday it won't speculate on the cause of the accident.
U.S. authorities also are investigating. ExpressJet says it's helping them.
