Tim Gobble, former city manager of East Ridge and previously a Bradley County sheriff, has been named interim corrections chief at the Hamilton County Jail.

"Tim Gobble has been here before," Hamilton County Sheriff Jim Hammond said in making the announcement.

"He assumed that same position after the death of Deputy Chief Richard Shockley in 2010. He knows our jail, he understands our philosophy, and his qualifications as a U.S. Secret Service agent and past sheriff of Bradley County, not to mention his people skills, are what we need right now."

Hammond also said he is seeking someone to fill the position full time, but currently is needing an interim jail administrator.

Gobble comes as a salary-only position with no benefits, a news release stated.
