John Shulman is taking a desk job.

The nine-year UTC men's basketball coach left college sports in March when his contract was not extended, and now he's ditching the court and heading to Access America Transport -- he'll be the company's director of sales.

"I'm excited to be a part of their unique culture and look forward to playing a role in making Access America Transport a billion-dollar company," Shulman said in a release. He did not answer requests for additional comment.

Shulman left UTC with one year left on his contract after the school refused to extend his contract beyond that year. He is receiving the balance of his contract -- $138,000 -- in monthly increments.

Access America hit record sales in 2012, and executives expect to exceed $550 million in sales this year. Jason Provonsha, senior vice president of sales at Access America, said he thinks Shulman will be a valuable teammate.

"John's intensity and passion make him a perfect fit at Access America," he said.

The third-party logistics company operates nine locations and was recently named one of America's most promising companies by Forbes.
