Alabama man arrested in death of 2-year-old boy

OXFORD, Ala. — Police in Talladega County have arrested a 24-year-old man in connection with the death of a 2-year-old boy in Oxford.

Authorities say Bryan Butts, of Oxford, was arrested Thursday on a capital murder warrant in the death of Cody Allen Rollins, who was found dead at a home in Oxford May 3.

After being found unresponsive the toddler was taken to the Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. Oxford police Chief Bill Partridge tells the Anniston Star the boy died of blunt force trauma and Butts was dating the boy’s mother when the boy died.

Butts is being held without bond in the Oxford jail and is scheduled to appear in court Friday morning. It is unclear if he has an attorney.
