Chattanooga's traffic engineering office highlights road closings

Chattanooga's traffic engineering office has listed roads that will be closed in the near future.

A news release said M.L. King Boulevard between Market Street and Georgia Avenue and Market Street between East Eighth Street and King Boulevard will be closed Friday from 5:30 pm to midnight on for the Nightfall Concert Series. The 800 block of Cherry Street will be closed at King Boulevard and will only be accessible from East Eighth Street. Limited handicapped parking will be available in the 900 block of Georgia Avenue on the Miller Park side on the meters covered with Orange "reserved" bags.

The release said the northbound curb lane of Hixson Pike from Shady Circle to McDade Lane will be closed Saturday from 6 to 11 a.m. for the Chattanooga Chase. Runners will be present on Dorchester Road, Riverview Road, Golf Street, Sunset Road, Concord Street, Woodhill Drive, Edgewood Circle and Minnekahda Place. but these streets will not be closed. Motorists are asked to look out for pedestrians in these areas.

The eastbound curb lane of West 20th Street, from Carter to South Market streets, and the southbound curb lane of South Market Street from 20th Street to Alton Park Boulevard will be closed Saturday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. for the American Diabetes Association Tour de Cure. There will be traffic delays on Alton Park Boulevard, West 40th Street and Tennessee Avenue. Motorists are asked to look out for cyclists on these streets.

Reggie White Boulevard between West 19th Street and the entrance to the Skate Park will be closed Sunday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. for the Chattanooga Market.
