Ronnie Davis, one of the area's coaching legends in girls' basketball, has been hired to take over the program at Sequatchie County High School.

Davis replaces Stephen Korpi, who coached the Lady Indians for one season and will be taking a coaching job in Mississippi, according to Sequatchie County principal Tommy Layne.

"Coach Korpi has an opportunity to go to Mississippi and we wish him well; he did a nice job while he was here," Layne said. "We're really excited to have someone with Ronnie Davis' credentials taking over."

Davis began his coaching career at Copper Basin, where he spent eight seasons before taking over at Polk County, where he remained for 34 years, winning a state championship in 1981.

Davis has 945 career victories and has won at least 20 games 22 times at Polk County.
