Dixie Jewels Insulator Club sets swap meet

The Dixie Jewels Insulator Club will host an electrical insulator swap meet at the Dalton Freight Depot, 305 S. Depot St., on Saturday, May 18.

Insulators, made of both glass and porcelain, will be available for sale or trade from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Collectors from seven to 10 states are expected, according to organizers.

Visitors are welcome to come and browse or bring their own insulators for appraisal.

The Dalton Convention and Visitors Bureau will also host a Train Day celebration at the facility the same day. Tours will be offered of train car No. 2350, the Crescent City, which is being restored. Built by the Pullman Co. in 1949, it features a lounge, master bedroom with a shower, two drawing rooms, a full galley and a public restroom.

A bluegrass band will provide music throughout the day.
