Mid South Band's spring concert Sunday

The Mid South Concert Band will present its spring concert Sunday, May 19, in Brainerd United Methodist Church, 4315 Brainerd Road. The free concert begins at 6 p.m.

The band, under the direction of Jim Souders and associate director Ron Starnes, will play a variety of music, including a powerful concert setting of the national anthem by John Williams, a tribute to the fire and police personnel of 9/11 and several Broadway favorites. An arrangement of the well-known hymn "Amazing Grace" will be accompanied by bagpipes.

Organist and band member Jeff Scofield will be featured on the pipe organ in "Hornpipe Humoresque" by Noel Rawsthorne.
