University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men's basketball coach Will Wade has hired former Queens University of Charlotte head coach Wes Long as an assistant coach.

Long had been the head coach for five season and oversaw a turnaround of the NCAA Division II program. The Royals went 15-12 overall last season and 12-8 in Conference Carolinas.

"I'm really excited he decided to leave Queens and come join us," Wade said. "He's done a good job of building a program and a sustainable culture.

"I'm geeked about getting him."

The two have known each other since Long played as a walk-on at Clemson where Wade was a student manager. Long joins former UTC player and interim coach Casey Long as an assistant coach.
