Pamala K. Cuzzort has been appointed vice president and chief administrative officer of Johnston Southern Co.
Johnston Southern is the family office of the Summerfield K. Johnston Jr. family and acts as the controlling entity over many of its investment and administrative interests, according to Andrew Cope, the company's president.
Cuzzort started her career in 1987 with Johnston Coca-Cola Bottling as an accountant and bookkeeper. After Johnston Coca-Cola was sold to Coca-Cola Enterprises, she became office manager of Johnston Southern and through the years has taken on larger responsibilities relative to budgeting, tax, finance, and human resources.
"I am extremely pleased to recognize the multiple talents that Pam has brought to our organization over her 25-year career," said Johnston, chairman of Johnston Southern.
The Chattanooga law firm of Evans Harrison Hackett PLLC added Scott M. Shaw as a member.
Shaw graduated from Wake Forest University in 1994, and earned his law degree from Georgia State University in 1997.
Shaw's practice for the last 15 years has focused on litigation and bankruptcy matters for his commercial clients, primarily handling real estate-related, banking and business disputes. He is licensed to practice law in both Tennessee and Georgia.

Rafielle Freeman has been promoted to director of quality improvement for BlueCare Tennessee, the Medicaid subsidiary of BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee.
In her new role, Freeman is responsible for integrating performance management and improvement strategies into all BlueCare Tennessee departments. She most recently served as manager of quality improvement and appeals.
"Rafielle has excelled at helping the company achieve significant gains in quality metrics and I'm confident we'll see even greater improvement with her leadership in this new role," said Dr. David Moroney, BlueCare Tennessee chief medical officer.
Freeman has worked for BlueCross in the Medicaid area since 1996, starting as a clinical analyst for program evaluation and coordination.
AREA203 Digital, a digital ad agency startup headquartered in Chattanooga, has bolstered its creative leadership team with the addition of Nick Turner.
As design director, Turner will oversee and lead creative design work, including user experience, graphic design, and illustrative design.
Prior to joining AREA203, Turner worked at Pale Dot Voyage as an art director, where he partnered with agencies to create integrated campaigns for well-known brands. Turner also helped to launch a local skateboard company called Comfort Skateboard Shop.
For the second year, Averitt Express has been honored by Chevron Lubricants with a Carrier Recognition Award. Chevron recognized Averitt for the full-service transportation provider's dedication to customer service.

TAC Air is underwriting the costs of fuel for "Carry the Load" follow cars across the country.
Last week, those participating in the nationwide relay were at Clifton Hills Baptist Church in Chattanooga for a brief stopover.
Pam McAllister, TAC Air Chattanooga general manager, said that "when we heard about 'Carry the Load', and its mission to honor families of our nation's fallen heroes, we knew we had to play a role."
"Carry the Load" was founded by Clint Bruce, a retired Navy SEAL, to carry on the memory of those who have died in the service of their country. The relay stops at various cities along a 2,000-mile route.
Chattanooga attorney David Noblit has been recognized for excellence in the field of alternative dispute resolution, according to the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals.

The academy is an association whose membership consists of ADR professionals distinguished by their hands-on experience in the field of civil and commercial conflict resolution, and by their commitment to the practice of alternative dispute resolution.
Membership is by invitation only and limited to attorney mediators and arbitrators who have proven experience in the field.
