Public Works Week starts today

A community outreach is set for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday as part of Chattanooga's Public Works Week.

The event in the Waterhouse Pavilion in Miller Plaza will include vehicles and educational displays for the Public Works Department's responsibilities, such as brush collection, road design and repair, water quality, code enforcement, waste disposal and guardrail installation and repair.

The public is invited to attend and learn more about the department.

Bridge weight limit lowered.

The weight limit on the bridge over Friars Branch just west of Woodland Park Baptist Church on Standifer Gap Road has been lowered to 6 tons for all vehicles, according to the Chattanooga Traffic Engineer's Office.
