What ARE The True OBJECTIVES of the ANTI OBAMA AND ANTI GOVERNMENT "GROUPS"?

Do the voters think that it is possible to "fix" our economic crisis conditions without having to go through another great depression? What conditions do the voters think would have happened if the Republicans were elected back in full control of our government and followed up with their budget cuts, while taking away the roles of our Government to help the people who are forced into poverty and then, not do anything to help recreate private production and manufacturing jobs? Another question that has to be asked is; Why are the Republicans and other enemies of President Obama going to extreme methods and strategies in trying to convince the voters that they made a mistake in voting him into office instead of putting them back into the office?

We Need to Think About Why There are people so violently against President Obama getting elected and reelected? We know that "bias" and "religion" are two reasons many of the voters are against the President. But why would the voters continue to vote for the political party that has been "Hell Bent" on the destruction of this Republic since FDR's "new deal."

How many of the people who are opposed the Affordable Healthcare insurance plan have ever been without healthcare insurance and whose responsibility was it to pay the bill when they needed medical care? What would happen if we had to go backwards to the days when the people did not have or know what Healthcare insurance was? If this Republic went into another great depression because the Republicans are against the role of our Government helping out when the private sectors destroy the economy and the financial systems, as in the effects of the 2007 deep recession? Thus forcing the masses of people into poverty, without money for housing, food, medical insurance or pay the doctors when they needed medical care. Would only the one percent have money to pay the insurance companies, the doctors, and keep up the Hospitals? What would the Republicans, Democrats, who are white, black, brown or in between do, if the private sectors and the US Government did nothing? The Republicans are telling us that this is what they would do if they get back in control; cut taxes, cut spending and wait on the private sectors to correct the crisis financial economic conditions while nothing was being done during the length of time the masses of people were without money and struggling/starving from the lack of food and did not have medical care. Do the voters want to go through the cycle of another great depression that the Republicans appear to want or will they vote to get this Republic out of the "stalemate" they put us in when they voted the Republicans back in control of the House in 2010 just to cause the failure of President Obama?

CarlB asks: But why would the voters continue to vote for the political party that has been "Hell Bent" on the destruction of this Republic since FDR's "new deal."

Because the New Deal was a raw deal, economically enslaving generations of Americans to near-permanent conditions of poverty and unproductivity. I blame this president, his predecessors, members of Congress throughout the same period, and the people they represent(ed).

Some corollary questions to those you so provocatively raise: Why are Obama’s supporters so unwilling to question his growth-averse economic policies and his incompetent, unnecessarily confrontational style of governance? Why the need for such blind devotion? Most opposition to Obama is not hateful or violent. It is motivated out of loyalty to the principles of freedom that infuriate him.

Any unpreparedness for catastrophe is the result of selling our souls (and our posterity’s’ future financial heath) for a mess of pottage. Spending trillions of dollars more than you take in is insanity. Our Roman appetite for luxury and ease is WWWTW. This republic wasn’t designed to sustain a state-controlled economy. Trusting bureaucrats and politicians more than trusting families and neighbors is WWWTW. My opposition to this trend is loyal and unyielding. What you label “violent hatred” is nothing more than loyal opposition of fundamentally flawed policies.

WWWW.... Sounds like you get your information from right-wing talking heads instead of a history book. The New Deal: Millions of people received relief, help with their mortgage, jobs etc. from the alphabet agencies.

The PWA and the TVA provided valuable economic and social infrastructures, such as roads, airports, schools, theatres, dams etc. Roosevelt's new laws about social security/ minimum wage/ labour relations and trade unions survived and protected ordinary people’s rights and conditions. Democracy survived in America (unlike Italy and Germany) Roosevelt became the people's hero - he was elected four times.

Democracy survived in America (unlike Italy and Germany). The New Deal became a model of how a democratic government ought to behave - arguably influenced the British Welfare State of 1948. And in 1998, when the Labour Government of Britain was trying to introduce new laws to help poor people, it called it: a New Deal.

http://articles.latimes.com/2013/feb/26/news/la-pn-obama-rejects-sequester-cuts-20130226

Obama rejects GOP call to appropriate sequester cuts

President Obama rejected Republican suggestions Tuesday that he should have more power to carry out $85 billion in pending budget cuts, and instead urged Congress to work out a better solution that involves raising revenue through taxes on the wealthy.

Obama told shipyard workers that he doesn’t want responsibility for apportioning the looming "sequester" cuts because there is no wise way to do it.

"The problem is, when you're cutting $85 billion in seven months," Obama said, "there's no smart way to do that.

(Yes cutting $85 billion from a budget of about $3.5 trillion is almost impossible)

Republicans are contemplating offering legislation that would give the administration more authority to decide which programs get cut, so that he could steer around the most critical programs.

If it passed, it could give the president more ownership of cuts he has worked for weeks to distance himself from.

(Man would that be bummer to risk you poll ratings to actually lead on this subject)

Even if he had more power to carry out the cuts, Obama said, "you can't gloss over the pain" they would cause.

(Leadership is such a cruel thing to force on someone who just wants to only get along)

At the shipyard, community members and workers were roundly worried about the sequester cuts -- and not in agreement with Obama that the onus is on Republicans to stave them off.

"It seems like more of the same -- just gridlock," said David Tew, a financial analyst in the submarine program who came to the factory floor to hear Obama speak. "It's not just one side that's responsible. It’s everybody."

Frankie Taylor, an electrician and foreman, said it's "horrible what's happening in Washington."

"They’re acting like kindergartners," he said. "They need to get together."

It seems like this has all happened before:

by JOEL B. POLLAK

As Hurricane Sandy approaches the northeast United States, the left is attempting to politicize the storm, attacking Republican nominee Mitt Romney and his running mate, Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI), for wanting to shift more responsibility for disaster relief from the federal government to the states.

They ignore the fact that President Barack Obama's proposal for the upcoming budget sequester would cut nearly $900 million from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, including disaster relief, food and shelter, and flood management at both the federal and state levels.

The cuts, detailed on pages 94 through 96 ...

http://www.whitehouse.gov/sites/default/files/omb/assets/legislative_reports/stareport.pdf

... of the White House's sequestration proposal, released in mid-September, show how far the Obama administration has been willing to go in order to preserve the idea of tax hikes on "millionaires and billionaires" rather than reaching a comprehensive grand bargain on deficit reduction that does not place additional burdens on the economy or essential services.

As Bob Woodward notes in his definitive account of the debt ceiling negotiations, such a bargain was within reach in July 2011, before President Obama destroyed it.

Obama's proposed cuts to FEMA include the following (emphasis added):

Flood Hazard Mapping and Risk Analysis Program - $8 million

State and Local Emergency Programs (non-defense) - $183 million

State and Local Emergency Programs (defense) - $5 million

United States Fire Administration and Training - $4 million

Salaries and Expenses (non-defense) - $75 million

Salaries and Expenses (defense) - $7 million

Disaster Relief - $580 million

Emergency Food and Shelter - $10 million

Radiological Emergency Preparedness Program - $3 million

National Pre-disaster Mitigation Fund - $3 million

These cuts likely underestimate the total cuts proposed to disaster relief functions, since the U.S. armed forces--subject to separate cuts in Obama's sequester proposals--frequently provide support to FEMA operations, as well as essential search and rescue services.

While Romney and Ryan are merely proposing to shift some of the emergency functions to the states, or to balance further increases in FEMA funding with offsetting cuts in other discretionary spending, Obama has proposed actual cuts, at both the federal and state levels.

During the Third Presidential Debate, Obama attempted to blame Congress for introducing the idea of the sequester, and said that sequester cuts are "not going to happen." However, as Woodward notes, the sequester was Obama's idea, and he subsequently signed it into law in the Budget Control Act. In addition, Obama privately continues to tout the sequester as proof that he is capable of reducing the budget deficit.

On the code for the front page, try the image url you are using on this page. Like, . . . 130522_Relief_t618_t305.jpg plus your session codes. The front page image src is calling a filename ending in a different string. "Image not found," is what we see.

There's a similar problem with your lead photo on the home page.

Great one today Clay.

Clay's work today is a perfect metaphor for the minds eye of conservatives. Can anyone argue that this is not how they see the country soon (right) after Obama was sworn in? The whirlwind of radical ideology purposely blowing down all the gains made over the years. Burying 'traditional (christian) values' in the rubble to promote his 'socialist agenda'.

All the while Republicans sing in harmony to the tune- 'The Bulldozers of Austerity' to push the rubble into one big pile; giving the remainder to their corporate friends to sell off. And with the same snarling smile a wolf has just before it eats you says, "See, we cleaned it up for you. Now don't we (but not you) deserve more tax cuts for being so kind?"

Pass the ketchup please.

You're confused.

FEMA has been a Federal Program since 1979.

Following the 9/11 attacks, GWB and Congress formed the Department of Homeland Security, which absorbed FEMA into the DHS in 2003.

"...if a natural disaster damaged my property and FEMA arrived to give me a check I would be cordial, provide them with a cup of coffee and then tell them to take their "relief check" and give it to one of my neighbors. Sir, you seem to be a little ignorant of how FEMA assistance works.

FEMA does not come to you. You must go to them. No one comes sauntering onto your property attempting to offer you a check.

So put away your gun and relax. If your double wide mobile home is knocked off its blocks and you don't want any monetary assistance to reset it, no problem.

No one is going to force you to go stand in line to apply for FEMA assistance.

The political designation of the majority of the people in Oklahoma will have no bearing on who will need, desire, and ultimately apply for FEMA assistance, contrary to your silly assertions.

Those homeowners with adequate insurance in place will likely not need assistance. Some will find that their insurance policies will not cover some or most of their losses.

Renters in Oklahoma...even those who cheer for Republicans, are going to need assistance and they will be glad to receive it.

It certainly seems as if "history repeats it's self." The KEY for the recovery of the 2007 deep recession is the creation of middle class manufacturing jobs and the decrease in the cost of living expenses while decreasing the "wage gap," with sacrifices made by everybody. Not the depressing of the middle classes and not forcing an increase in the number of people living in Poverty. Remember what the conditions were of thisRepublic at the end of the Cheney/Bush W. administration? With the help of the fraud occurring in the private financial systems and with the effects of the global economy. We were on the verge of another great depression. Now you are wanting the voters to put the Republicans back into control? Was it the private enterprise systems that prevented another great depression ?

"The day after the storm, Coburn’s spokesman, John Hart, said the senator wanted any new disaster-relief aid for Oklahoma to be covered by cuts elsewhere in the federal budget, The stance drew little support from fellow lawmakers."

Inhofe told MSNBC yesterday that the Hurricane Sandy aid package was "totally different" than what might have to be provided to Oklahoma residents."*

People in Oklahoma are going to get any and all assistance that they need, so sit and spin all you want about it.

Your theory is great. Your an exemplar Republican cheerleader. The only problem is that it's very hard to stick to such an ideal when everything you own has been wiped off the face of this earth, your entire family is standing in front of you with only the clothes they are wearing, they are hungry, they are thirsty, your car ended up in a tree around the block, and the prospect of the cost of motel stay will wipe out your bank account in two weeks.

That is the reality for most of those people in Oklahoma today. Now I know you'd like to believe that they each of those "Republican" families have millions of dollars languishing in their bank accounts, like you pretend to have, but most have two to four weeks worth of cash, at best.

"Again the expectation should not be that FEMA or Big Nanny government will pay for any portion of damages to my property due to natural disasters."

And again, your opinion is just that...an opinion. Your opinion is not shared by most Americans and your opinion will never change reality.

Let me clarify something, in light of your statement. There is absolutely no shame in living in a mobile home. Mobile homes provide economical housing, they are cheap to maintain, and they do everything an expansive brick homes does.

A mobile home keeps you sheltered from the elements and it provides one a place to store their stuff. Utilities are quite cheap as well.

Everyone lives in what they can afford to live in.

I'm quite sure that Maximus lives in something other than what he claims to live in.

I was wrong to use that example to express my belief that Maximus is and always has been a pathological liar.

Sounds like you get your information from right-wing talking heads instead of a history book.

The New Deal became a model of how a democratic government ought to behave - arguably influenced the British Welfare State of 1948. And in 1998, when the Labour Government of Britain was trying to introduce new laws to help poor people, it called it: a New Deal.

From Wiki:

After the United Kingdom general election, 1906, the Labour Party became a serious competitor to the Liberal Party. The resulting Liberal welfare reforms laid the foundations of the modern welfare state.

(Could it arguably be said the British Welfare State influenced the U.S. New Deal?)

The New Deal (renamed Flexible New Deal from October 2009) was a programme of active labour market policies introduced in the United Kingdom by the Labour government in 1998.

The New Deal introduced the ability to withdraw benefits from those who refused "reasonable employment".

(Is this the New Deal you were referring to?)

The natural scenery in Deliverance is definitely beautiful however Detroit is no slacker and is reverting back to its original natural state each day and with each truck load of debris hauled to the landfill. Democratic control of the levers of power are very effective in that way and maybe someday we can have our whole nation restored to the same level.

FactChecker has not been too kind to you left wingers lately. As in this debunking of your claim that Republicans lie by altering the e-mails that were released by the White House.

The Pinocchio Test from the FactChecker at the Washington Post.

It has long been part of the Washington game for officials to discredit a news story by playing up errors in a relatively small part of it. (Obama flack)Pfeiffer gives the impression that GOP operatives deliberately tried to “smear the president” with false, doctored e-mails.

But the reporters involved have indicated they were told by their sources that these were summaries, taken from notes of e-mails that could not be kept. The fact that slightly different versions of the e-mails were reported by different journalists suggests there were different note-takers as well.

Indeed, Republicans would have been foolish to seriously doctor e-mails that the White House at any moment could have released (and eventually did).

The burden of proof lies with the accuser. Despite Pfeiffer’s claim of political skullduggery, we see little evidence that much was at play here besides imprecise wordsmithing or editing errors by journalists.

From the Washington Post FactChecker:

In the days since the Internal Revenue Service first disclosed that it had targeted conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status, new information has emerged from both the Treasury inspector general’s report and congressional testimony Friday that calls into question key statements made by Lois G. Lerner, the IRS’s director of the exempt organizations division.

“But between 2010 and 2012, we started seeing a very big uptick in the number of 501(c)(4) applications we were receiving, and many of these organizations applying more than doubled, about 1500 in 2010 and over 3400 in 2012.”

But this claim of “more than doubled” appears to be a red herring.

The targeting of groups began in early 2010, after the Supreme Court’s decision in Citizens United v. FEC was announced on Jan. 21.

While there was an increase in 2010, it was relatively small. The real jump did not come until 2011, long after the targeting of conservative groups had been implemented. Also, it appears Lerner significantly understated the number of applications in 2010 (“1500”) in order to make her claim of “more than doubled.”

“I think you guys were reading the paper as much as I was. So it was pretty much we started seeing information in the press that raised questions for us, and we went back and took a look.”

Here, Lerner suggests that she found out about this issue only when news reports appeared in February and March 2012 about tea party groups complaining that they were being targeted. But the IG timeline shows this claim to be false.

According the IG, Lerner had a briefing on the issue on June 29, 2011, in which she was told about the BOLO (“Be On the Look Out”) criteria that included words such as “tea party” or “patriots.”

“I don’t believe anyone ever asked me that question before.”

This was Lerner’s excuse during the media call for why she had not publicly addressed the issue before.

In fact, just two days before the ABA conference, Lerner appeared before Congress and was asked by Rep. Joseph Crowley (D-N.Y.) about the status of investigations into 501(c)(4) groups. She provided a bland answer about a questionnaire on the IRS Web site, failing to take the opportunity to disclose the results of the probe. Small wonder that Crowley is now calling for her to resign, saying that Lerner lied to him.

The Pinocchio Test

In some ways, this is just scratching the surface of Lerner’s misstatements and weasely wording when the revelations about the IRS’s activities first came to light on May 10. But, taken together, it’s certainly enough to earn her four Pinocchios.

From FactChecker at the Washington Post:

Barbara Boxer’s claim that GOP budgets hampered Benghazi security

“I believe if we want to know what happened in Benghazi, it starts with the fact that there was not enough security. There was not enough security because the budget was cut.”

— Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.), speech on the Senate floor, May 14, 2013

The Facts

Politicians often play games with budget numbers, and so one must be careful at accepting numbers at face value. Note how Boxer asserted that House Republicans “sought to cut more than $450 million from President Obama’s budget request.” That means she is talking about the president’s proposed budget — which in any administration is often a pie-in-the-sky document.

In fact, the Congressional Research Service has documented that Congress, whether led by Democrats and Republicans, year after year did not fully fund the various pots of money for embassy security. The State Department, for instance, was shortchanged by $142 million in fiscal year 2010, when Democrats controlled both houses of Congress.

Moreover, while Boxer claims that Republicans “cut” the budget, she is only comparing it to what the Obama administration proposed. The reality is that funding for embassy security has increased significantly in recent years.

“The Department of State’s base requests for security funding have increased by 38 percent since Fiscal Year (FY) 2007, and base budget appropriations have increased by 27 percent in the same time period,” said the bipartisan Senate Homeland Security Committee report on the Benghazi attack.

Congress had been responsive in providing “Overseas Contingency Operations” funds to the State Department in response to emergent security-driven requests, mainly for Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan.

“However, there was no supplemental or OCO request made by the President for additional diplomatic security enhancements in FY 2010 or FY 2011. Neither the Department of State nor Congress made a point of providing additional funds in a supplemental request for Libya, or more specifically, Benghazi.”

Given that the U.S. effort in Benghazi was basically a CIA operation, State Department funding issues may be largely irrelevant.

Embassy Tripoli did not demonstrate strong and sustained advocacy with Washington for increased security for Special Mission Benghazi.”

During hearings into the attack last fall and this month, State Department officials were specifically asked if a lack of financial resources played a role in the attack. The answer was no.

The Pinocchio Test

State Department officials repeatedly told Congress that a lack of funds was not an issue. Instead, security was hampered because of bureaucratic issues and management failures. In other words, given the internal failures, no amount of money for the State Department likely would have made a difference in this tragedy.

Our do-nothing Congress that can't come to an agreement on ANYTHING EVER had no problem at all in passing a bill, in record-time, that would ease their own inconvenience of flight delays.

IRS tea-party bloodbath continues in Congress

Evidence emerges that IRS's own internal probe ended in May 2012, six months before election, but was hidden from legislators

Tempers flared in a House Oversight and Government Reform Committee hearing Wednesday, with members on both sides of the aisle castigating the Internal Revenue Service for targeting conservative groups with special scrutiny, and then hiding the practice from Congress.

'Just yesterday the committee interviewed Holly Paz, the director of exempt organizations, rulings and agreements, division of the IRS,' Issa said. 'While a tremendous amount of attention is centered about the Inspector General's report, or investigation, the committee has learned from Ms. Paz that she in fact participated in an IRS internal investigation that concluded in May of 2012 - May 3 of 2012 - and found essentially the same thing that Mr. George found more than a year later.'

One top Democrat breathed fire, warning that prosecutions could result.

Massachusetts Democratic Rep. Stephen Lynch said that if witnesses stonewalled the committee there would be legal consequences.

'If you refuse to answer,' Lynch said, 'you will leave us no choice but to ask for a special counsel or the appointment of a special prosecutor to get to the bottom of this.'

'I hope that’s not the approach of the IRS going forward,'he added. 'Because there will be hell to pay.'

Rep. Jim Jordan, an Ohio Republican, linked the tea party scandal with the implementation of President Obama's Affordable Care Act.

'This administration, this agency, the very agency charged with enforcing Obamacare,' Jordan said in an opening statement, 'systematically targeted groups that came into existence because they opposed Obamacare - and they started the targeting the very month, March 2010, that Obamacare came into law - expects us to believe it is the work of ‘two rogue agents.'

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

The claim that the ongoing IRS scandal is limited to low level employees is falling apart.

The six Cincinnati workers we have identified, who sent scrutinizing letters to conservative groups with words including "patriot, liberty, tea party or 9-12" in their names are Mitchel Steele, Carly Young, Joseph Herr, Stephen Seok, Liz Hofacre and a woman identified only as Ms. Richards.

Thanks to two FOX19 sources connected to the IRS, we now understand the chain of command for these workers.

Mitchel Steele, Carly Young, Joseph Herr and Liz Hofacre are IRS agents. Stephen Seok is a supervisor IRS agent.

But according to the IRS employee directory that FOX19 has obtained exclusively, each of these agents has a different manager and then above them a different territory manager.

That is important because while it may sound reasonable to the average person that these workers began targeting groups on their own, the IRS structure is designed to prevent that.

Here is how that works.

When an application for tax exempt status comes into the IRS, agents have 270 days to work through that application. If the application is not processed within those 270 days it automatically triggers flags in the system. When that happens, individual agents are required to input a status update on that individual case once a month, every month until the case is resolved.

So who in the chain of command would have received all these flags? The answer, according to the IRS directory, one woman in Cincinnati, Cindy Thomas, the Program Manager of the Tax Exempt Division. Because all six of our IRS workers have different individual and territory managers, Cindy Thomas is one manager they all have common.

It turns out Cindy Thomas' name is one we have heard before. The independent journalism group ProPublica says in November of 2012 they had requested information on conservatives groups that had received non-profit status. Along with that information, the IRS released private information on nine conservative groups that had not yet been approved and personal information had not been redacted. The person who signed off on that release, Cindy Thomas.

What this means for you... consider this chain of command since the story broke.

Former Acting IRS Commissioner Steven Miller… retires

Joseph Grant, Commissioner of Tax Exempt and Government Entities... retires.

Lois Lerner, Head of Exempt Organization…says she will invoke her 5th amendment right to not incriminate herself when called before Congress on Wednesday.

Holly Paz, Director of Exempt Organizations, subpoenaed to Washington to be interviewed by members of Congress.

All of this IRS leadership, in Washington D.C.

Then one level down is Cindy Thomas, the highest ranking employee in Cincinnati in this Tax Exempt and Government Entities Department that no one in Congress is talking to... yet.

It looks like some of the IRS agents are not only possible criminals but also every so slightly dense. Ms. Lerner had stated she was going to take the fifth and when questioned she refused to answer questions. But she read a prepared statement before the committee and as a result she waived her right to the fifth.

Now she will have to testify and without any immunity that would normally be offered to get her to "roll over" on the higher ups. This deal is coming apart like a cheap suit.

She sure didn't seem angry to me. Trey Gowdy (SC) was quite animated in his speech that followed her refusal to answer questions however.

"A group of government employees and politicians that think politics is a blood sport and will stoop to anything to impart and implement their agenda. Lerner has a long history of targeting religious organizations including Pat Robertson."

Accusations come very cheap. Proving them is going to be quite expensive and this fishing expedition is going nowhere.

"Lerner is another in a long line of Obama appointees that has been a radical leftist all of her life and it will take a Special Prosecutor to get the truth out of the IRS hooligans working for Barry The Anti-Constitutionalist."

Lois Lerner was appointed by George Walker Bush.

"Yes, Obama is the President, but certainly a leader not to admire."

Of course, that is simply your opinion and one that has no bearing on the truth or representative of the majority of this nation, as was proven conclusively this past November.

"Fortunately Barry cannot fool people any more. The polls are not good and he will live out the rest of his term mostly on the golf course. Fore!"

That's simply not true. Governmental assistance came in the form of emergency spending bills appropriating funds for natural disasters and piecemeal programs. FEMA centralized those efforts and now is part of the budget.

Alprova, all I can say is that it must be nice to sit on your ass all day and pose as Clay Bennett's right hand or should I say left hand man. Lerner and the IRS corruption is interesting on a lot of fronts. Liberals are supposed to be huge on civil liberties and freedom of speech yet Obama obviously used the IRS as part of his reelection strategy to intimidate those that contributed to his opponent or even voiced their support as a Tea Party Member. Do avowed socialists like Alprova agree that a Special Prosecutor needs to be involved in the IRS scandal investigation and I am not talking about Eric "The Red" Fast and Furious Holder? For those that believe in the values of Truth, Justice, and the American way the Obama administration seems to be the Anti-Christ. Alprova, droning on about Obama's election and that he will always be your favorite president because he is sooooooo of the people demostrates your blind blue state ignorance. I would also guess that you are a union member and retired guvment worker. As for Bush appointing Lerner, when will you people realize that GW was not one of my favorites. His comapassionate conservatism included way too much government and way too many bureaucrats like Lerner. I do think that Lerner will be called back to answer questions since she screwed herself with her arrogant opening statement saying that she has done nothing wrong. Lerner is guilty as sin and was part of the Obama reelection plan to trash Romney supporters. The whole gangster IRS bully plan has David Axelrod written all over it. Of course Axelrod is now cashing in as a consultant. As I have always stated to you bleeding hearts that buy into the passion of your Democrat leaders to help the little people with loads of social justice....uh..it's about the money and it always is! Obama and his socialist thug hinchmen make Nixon look like a save the whales Democrat. Oh and Al my point about FEMA and DHS was that if we did not have them we would not need them. My Depression Era parents built a business out of nothing after several failures. To this day my Dad absolutely can't stand FDR because he started all the socialist relief programs, i.e. Social Security-a Ponzi scheme that is bankrupt. You contribute money to SS all of your working years and happen to die at say 59. Do your children receive any of those funds? No. Social Security like Medicare is bankrupt and yet Obama is still printing money. We do need a safety net and I am not against the feds providing help to those truly in need but if I were a resident of Moore, OK I would not be applying for FEMA funds, I would as I have already done, be contributing funds to the Red Cross and rebuilding on my own because I plan for a rainy or even tornado day. As I have taught my kids...never, ever let yourself become a victim. Obama's sick philosophy is to create as many victims as possible. Victims dependent on government.

BRP, the same people who have always decried Obama and anyone associated with his administration in this forum, are the only ones who give two hoots about this IRS scandal, and it is absolutely hilarious to read comments that express a personal belief that "things are getting good."

The undeniable truth is that the facts are not even close to being in evidence and the outcome that some of you are hoping for, will never come to pass.

And of course, it will all be due to corruption and conspiracy.

Fox News, Matt Drudge and all the other usual anti-Obama outlets are reporting the IRS hearings as if the Republicans have uncovered some massive plot to target Tea-Party groups, when the facts are pointing that people were merely doing their jobs and nothing more.

Outside of the conservative leaning media, this story is way down on the list of news and I suspect it will remain so.

Miraweb notes: “It is rather refreshing to see a little actual governing in place of the usual diet of camera-chasing and political shenanigans.”

I wonder if those Oklahoma politicians will take time to thank the National Weather Service, which the Republicans have continuously targeted for budget cuts:

"The tornado that hit Moore, Oklahoma on Tuesday left incredible devastation and loss in its wake. But the damage may have been even worse if it weren’t for a warning from the National Weather Service (NWS) 16 minutes before it touched down, allowing some to seek out safety. As George Zornick reported at The Nation, the tornado emergency it sent out “no doubt saved hundreds of lives in Moore.”

But the NWS has been struggling with budget cuts in recent years and is facing down even more cuts thanks to sequestration. . .

Since taking control of the House in 2011, Republicans have targeted NOAA for severe cuts—they came out of the gate proposing a massive 28 percent cut in their first budget that year, which was moderated by the end of the process.

But the assaults on the NOAA budget continued, and the agency couldn’t escape the sequester, which will lop 8.2 percent from the NOAA budget. This lead the acting administrator to institute an across-the-board hiring freeze in March, and four days of mandatory furloughs are on the horizon. (There is already a 10 percent vacancy rate at the agency.)"

The US Attorney for the District of Columbia, Ronald C. Machen - the man responsible for the aggressive surveillance and phone record scrutiny at Fox News - is also a big donor to the Obama Campaigns. At the time of his appointment, the Washington Post wrote a profile on Machen including this tidbit:

“Over the years, he has donated $4,350 to Obama's campaigns. He gave $250 to Obama's U.S. Senate campaign in 2003, a year before Obama, then an Illinois state senator, emerged on the nation's political radar, according to campaign finance records.”

Furthermore, in June of 2012, Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) questioned Attorney General Eric Holder about the appointment of Mr. Machen to head-up the leaks investigation. During the questioning Sen. Cornyn revealed that not only was Machen a donor to the Obama campaign, he was also a volunteer for Obama for America.

I don’t see any conflict of interest there ... do you?

I think Michelle Obama has seen the light, that president Obama is throwing people under the bus by the hundreds and when he starts to run low she doesn’t want to be anywhere near him.

Between Benghazi, the IRS badgering the Tea Party, and assorted other brush fires, it’s hard to imagine President Obama will have time for a vacation this summer. But apparently he will. There’s been no official word from the White House, but we’re hearing the Obamas have their eyes on a house in Farm Neck on Martha’s Vineyard.

During three previous visits, POTUS and FLOTUS and their daughters Malia and Sasha stayed at Blue Heron Farm in Chilmark. But British architect Norman Foster has since bought the place for $21.9 million.

Farm Neck is secluded and, most importantly for the president, has a nice golf club. We’re told first lady Michelle Obama and the children may be on the island for an extended period, with the president joining them on occasional weekends and for two weeks at the end of August.

By Mark Shanahan and Meredith Goldstein at the Boston Globe

Did it really take two people to write this? One of these people has to be employed as a result of Obama’s saving or creating 137 million new jobs.

By the way I wonder if she enjoys being referred to as FLOTUS. I know every time I hear that term the first vision I have is of her instead of any other first lady.

May 22, 2013 at 7:43 p.m.

John Ross? Whatever.

*Washington Post/Sept 1 2006:

Two "unnamed" congressional leaders requested IRS investigate NAACP for remarks made about Bush:

"IRS Ends 2-Year Probe Of NAACP's Tax Status"

Nearly two years after a controversial decision to investigate the NAACP for criticizing President Bush during the 2004 presidential campaign, the Internal Revenue Service has ruled that the remarks did not violate the group's tax-exempt status.

In a letter released yesterday by the NAACP, the IRS said the group, the nation's oldest and largest civil rights organization, "continued to qualify" as tax-exempt.

The commissioner said the investigation of the NAACP was undertaken because two congressional leaders, whom he declined to name, requested it.

Consortium news:

"What A Real Cover-Up Looks Like"

Exclusive: Republicans won’t let go of their conspiracy theory about some nefarious “cover-up” in “talking points” for Ambassador Susan Rice’s TV interviews on the Benghazi attack. But they should at least have better skills for detecting a real cover-up, since they’ve had direct experience, as Robert Parry documents.

By Robert Parry

There have been nine public hearings and countless hours of commentary about the so-called Benghazi “cover-up” – really just some bureaucratic back-and-forth about “talking points” for a second-tier official’s appearance on TV. But none of the outraged members of Congress or the news media seems to have any idea what a real cover-up looks like.

In 2011, I gained access to files at the George H.W. Bush library in College Station, Texas, showing how Bush’s White House reacted to allegations in 1991 that he had joined in an operation in 1980 to sabotage President Jimmy Carter’s negotiations to free 52 American hostages then held in Iran.

Unlike most private company retirement plans, actually surviving children and even the surviving spouse do receive funds. Unlike he private sector, if a spouse dies the surviving spouse may receive a cash payment if the company had a life insurance police on the deceased, but any retirement funds cease the moment the indvidual dies. SS actually pays surviving widows/widowers and depenents up until the child or children reaches a certain age. If child or children goes to college they will continue to receive funds, although the surviving widow's monies will stop after the child reaches a certain age.

There once was an incident where a family thought their loved one had a life insurance policy with their employer. The company did have a life insurance policy but they made themselves, not the family, the beneficiary. All those years the family, and surely the deceased, thought the company life insurance policy would be paid to the family if the employee died. They only found out the truth after the individual died that the company had made itself the beneficiary. The story was in the news.

Sequester dollars are such as small amount it is probably less than wasteful spending. It is hard to believe the CEO has not met with his VP's and department heads with instructions to find cost reductions to off set inflation plus 5%. Very easy to do in most operations if the lead person knows anything about how to manage a business. We get what we deserve for electing lawyers and a majority with limited business experience. The Apple CEO brought out congress's ignorance of business and the tax system, including McCain who really blew it.

Check out the Oklahoma assistance bill. The total is near 2X the needs. The bill has enough totally unrelated riders (pork) to double the cost. What a screwed up system we have in D.C.

I am beginning to wonder if Obama was even a good community organizer, his most often referenced claim to fame. It doesn't seem to concern his blindly loyal supporters that he doesn't seem to know about major events for a long time, even days before he has the information that is in the news.

The IRS...Lerner said I have done nothing wrong but I have an attorney and refuse to testify on the grounds it may incriminate me. What a contradiction. She is easy not to like. I think a lot of people have known for years the IRS is often arrogant and abusive to a lot of groups and individuals.

Phone taps on the AP and a FOX news reporter to see who if he has committed a crime by publishing information provided by "a leak" in government. Who committed a crime? Any government employee phone records subpoenaed?

Benghazi...Who with the authority reduced security and who failed to provide added security when requested? Why were those people still there when other countries had already withdrawn theirs? The talking points are a distraction to finding the root cause of this travesty.

No Sir, that is a FACT.

Ambassador Chris Stevens was in Benghazi that day to be present at the opening of an English-language school being started by the Libyan farmer who helped save an American pilot who had been shot down by pro-Qaddafi forces during the initial war to overthrow the regime. That farmer saved the life of the American pilot and the ambassador wanted to be present to launch the Libyan rescuer’s new school.

Alprova you would be a horror story at the beach just like Lois Lerner with her K Mart suit today. Enjoy your Memorial Day splurging on your social security check at dairy queen. :). Ms. Lerner has not seen the last of that S.C. Congressman God bless him and God bless America. Alprova I am sure you would like to have Radical Islamic Terrorists hacking up innocent citizens in the streets of Chatt. Like the Benghazi embassy attack where Obama apparently felt that our ambassador deserved to be murdered on the anniversary of 9/11 it is your weakness Alprova that I will forget about while soaking up the Memorial Day sun on the Hilton Head beaches and golf courses. God Bless America still the greatest country on earth no matter what the loser liberal social security dependent Alprova peons say. :)$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$! By the way, gun stocks are still awesome!

Ambassador Chris Stevens made that decision himself. He ignored warnings by locals to stay away. He placed himself and his staff in harms way.

He didn't have authority to do that without approval. Was it the approver that denied the request for added security?

Maximus says: “Volunteers, The Red Cross, and various volunteer and church organizations will move faster, help more people and have more impact than Barry's Make Everyone My Pawn Welfare World could ever hope to do.”

You poor guy. . . You just can’t admit there is a need for a government agency like FEMA. Can you, Maximus? . . .While churches, volunteers and organizations like the American Red Cross are real troopers when it comes helping people after a crisis there is a long list of things they simply cannot do. . . They cannot possibly rebuild all those homes, repair damaged infrastructures, provide loans for uninsured homes, pay for moving/property storage expenses related to the disaster, pay for disaster related medical/dental expenses of victims, and/or pay for disaster related funeral and burial expenses. . . so get over it.

You haver amazing abilities to know anything about what I would look like on a beach. We haven't met yet.

"Enjoy your Memorial Day splurging on your social security check at dairy queen. :)."

Sir, I'm not eligible to draw Social Security for another eight years, and I do not draw maximum benefits for another 13 years, which is my goal, should God be willing that I live so long.

"Ms. Lerner has not seen the last of that S.C. Congressman God bless him and God bless America."

We'll see. I'll bet my right arm that she will invoke the 5th again, which will really tick the man off.

"Alprova I am sure you would like to have Radical Islamic Terrorists hacking up innocent citizens in the streets of Chatt."

Do you really think so?

"Like the Benghazi embassy attack where Obama apparently felt that our ambassador deserved to be murdered on the anniversary of 9/11"

Wow!! What do you base that brilliant assertion on?

"it is your weakness Alprova that I will forget about while soaking up the Memorial Day sun on the Hilton Head beaches and golf courses."

Of course you will. Don't forget your broken spell-checking I-Pad so that you will not miss a thing.

"God Bless America still the greatest country on earth no matter what the loser liberal social security dependent Alprova peons say."

For some reason, I feel the need for a shower after reading that.

"By the way, gun stocks are still awesome!"

Just be sure that you don't shoot someone with a healthy tan line, cutting across the apartment complex while you are in your kiddie pool, that you mistake for a terrorist.

Hilton Head Condo my ass.

Sir, he was an Ambassador. He had the authority to do as he pleased.

"Was it the approver that denied the request for added security?"

You've not kept up with the latest info, have you?

Ambassador Stevens turned down offers of additional security, twice.

Because I was bored and truly had nothing better to do. Plus, if you will notice, the more I shot down his ignorant and false statements, the more angry his responses were.

I've had a blast watching him twirl like a top.

People are going to believe whatever they choose to believe.

Maxipad tried to insert a great many untruths and lies in his posts today, which I refuted. When he sticks to his personal opinions, I have no problem letting them rot in the sun.

I realize that in the 24 hour day of hearing the same news over and over, it gets tiring but Making a game of it and getting involed will certainly change your out look. I love playing these real time, life changing, mystery games called "Politics," AFTER following all the RULES and getting informed of all the information needed, there is a reward. I have the opportunity and the satisfaction to vote as a better informed citizen for the candidates who should want to do what is best for all of the people and for the long-term good of this Republic

Sorry, I was busy contributing to society by working and paying taxes. That's a lot more than most of the lobs on here can say. Especially the waist of space who drew this cartoon. Al, I post so sparsely BC of what nooga said.... Never argue with an idiot.
