Six people are in custody and charged with aggravated robbery after an attempted burglary Wednesday afternoon turned into a carjacking and a robbery spree, Chattanooga police said.

Wednesday at about 1:40 p.m., four people were interrupted by the home owner during a burglary at 1069 Hurricane Creek Drive, according to a news release. The four then carjacked the victim's 2001 Chevy truck.

At 11 p.m. the suspects in the stolen truck went on a robbery spree that began by robbing a victim at gunpoint at 900 Airport Road, police said. They then robbed a second victim at gunpoint around 12:03 a.m. at 7710 E. Brainerd Road, and a third victim at gunpoint at 12:10 a.m. at 7301 E. Brainerd Road. At 12:28 a.m. a Hamilton County deputy saw the stolen truck at 7700 Standifer Gap Road and tried to stop it, but six males got out of the vehicle and ran.

The Chattanooga Police Department, Hamilton County sheriff's deputies and the Tennessee Highway Patrol set up a perimeter that ultimately led to the apprehension of six suspects.

Five of the suspects are juveniles and the adult was identified as Mark Lee, 18.

All six were charged with 3 counts of aggravated robbery, according to police.
