Dade inmate leads chase

A police chase that began in Dade County, Ga., ended in Dayton, Tenn., Thursday evening.

Dade County Sheriff Ray Cross told WRCB-Channel 3 that inmate Walter Glenn was working at the county transfer station when he allegedly stole a county vehicle and took off.

Cross said Glenn made it to Dayton, where he hit an officer's patrol car before he was caught.

I-24 pursuit, crash lead to arrest

A man who led police on a chase on Interstate 24 has a June 18 court date, officials said.

According to East Ridge police, a resident reported someone stealing a lawn mower and other items from a house on Delaware Avenue early Thursday. Police spotted a car similar to the suspect's vehicle and tried to stop Lovell Lightner, 40.

Lightner refused to stop and drove onto I-24 traveling west in the eastbound lanes. He crashed his car and ran, then fought with officers who tried to arrest him.

Police said Lightner faces charges including theft, evading arrest, assault on police, resisting arrest, aggravated burglary and driving on a suspended license.
