Tennessee Weslyan College honors alumni

Robert Greene received the J. Neal Ensminger Distinguished Alumnus Award from Tennessee Wesleyan College during the Blue and Gold Gala, one of more than 20 events held during homecoming weekend on the Athens, Tenn., campus.

Other alumni honored during the banquet were Brian Kyle, named Outstanding Young Alumnus, and 2013 Hall of Fame inductees Ruthie Cawood, Gene Raymer, Doug Raymer, Jorge Fuchs and Joe Young.

The Robbie J. Ensminger Friend of Wesleyan awards were presented to Sheilah Farmer Grubb and Dr. Durwood Dunn.

Also during homecoming weekend, the Elliott family was honored for its continuing generosity and dedication to the college.

In 2007, the college dedicated Elliott Hall in honor of Col. John Elliott, Mary Ada Adams Elliott and their four children, Drannan, Herschel, Kenneth and John B., who are Tennessee Wesleyan graduates. In addition to donations to update Elliott Hall, the family recently funded upgrades for instructional technology throughout the facility. In honor of their generosity, the college dedicated an Elliott Hall conference room to the family, naming it the Kenneth M. Elliott Conference Room. More than 50 Elliott family members gathered in front of Elliott Hall for the dedication.

Ken Elliott was a 1940 Tennessee Wesleyan alumnus who served for a number of years on the board of trustees and retired from Mobil Oil after 44 years. He received the Distinguished Alumnus Award in 2000.
