Tennessee boy killed when falls out of van, hit by another vehicle while trick-or-treating

WHITE PINE, Tenn. — Police say a 4-year-old Tennessee boy has died after being struck by a van while trick-or-treating.

White Pine Police detective Chad Cotter told the Knoxville News Sentinel (http://bit.ly/1cu57S3) that the child was riding in the back of a van with an open door while trick-or-treating in the White Pine subdivision in Jefferson County. Cotter said the boy fell out of the van and the vehicle struck the child.

The boy was flown to the University of Tennessee Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The name of the child wasn't released. Police continue to investigate.
