Dalton police arrest 4 in forgery case

Dalton police say a group from Forest Park, Ga., came to town this weekend to buy gift cards using stolen credit card information.

On Saturday afternoon, police say, Trent Waters and Ledavion Brown walked into a Kroger at 1205 N. Glenwood Ave., grabbed a handful of gift cards and then headed to the self checkout section. There, they tried to swipe the fraudulent credit cards to buy the real gift cards. They swiped the cards several times, but nothing happened.

Employees noticed this and called police. Waters and Brown left with Shabeyon Newsome, who officers later said served as the group's lookout. When police found them, they also arrested Olivia Clerk -- the apparent getaway driver.

Police charged all four with forgery of a financial transaction card.
