Connecticut woman dies after 11-story fall

STAMFORD, Conn. - Authorities say a 42-year-old woman has died after a mysterious fall from her 11th floor balcony at a Connecticut condominium building.

Officers and paramedics were called to the building in Stamford just after 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. A witness said she was conscious and responding to people talking to her immediately after she fell, but police say she died at about 9 p.m. at Stamford Hospital.

Police are investigating whether the fall was an accident, a suicide attempt or something else. Authorities are withholding her name pending autopsy results.

Building security guard Jelanee Allen told The Advocate of Stamford that he heard the woman scream and it sounded like she fell by accident.

Police say she lived alone and her door was locked when they went to her condo.
