The vehicle emissions testing centers in Hamilton County will be closed Nov. 28 and 29 for the Thanksgiving holiday, but two of them will reopen Nov. 30.
The centers at 5201 Austin Road in Hixson and at 720 Eastgate Loop will be open Nov. 30 from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for testing.
"Planning ahead helps keep waiting to a minimum," Prentiss Taylor, program manager for the Tennessee vehicle inspection program administered by Envirotest Systems, said. "It's a good idea to take vehicles mid-week when testing volume is usually lighter and to avoid testing in the final days of the month."
The regular hours of operation for the centers are:
- 5206 Austin Road and 720 Eastgate Loop, open Tuesday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. They are closed Sunday and Monday.
- 1620 Riverfront Parkway and 7460 Bonnyshire Drive are open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. They are closed Saturday and Sunday.
