Suspect arrested in punching of 24-year-old; police investigating if it was a game called 'knockout'

NEW YORK - New York City police say one man was arrested after a 24-year-old says he was punched in the face.

Police on Saturday are investigating whether it was a game called "knockout." The object is to knock out an unsuspecting person with one punch. The man says he overheard a group talking about the game before he was punched.

Police say the 24-year-old told them he was walking in Brooklyn around 2:45 a.m. Friday when he was struck once. He was not seriously injured.

A 28-year-old man was arrested on charges of assault as a hate crime because the victim is Jewish. Three others taken into custody were released.

There have been eight other recent incidents that may fit the pattern of the game. No other arrests have been made.
