Central has its first District 6-AA win and Soddy-Daisy's record has improved to 3-4 after picking up forfeit victories from Tyner.

The Rams played an ineligible player in four games, two of which they lost, and had to forfeit 35-10 and and 49-30 wins over the Pounders and Trojans, respectively.

"It was a paperwork issue, an oversight and a mistake on my part," Tyner coach Wayne Turner said. "I told [school principal] Mrs. [Carol] Goss about it Tuesday morning, and we corrected it from there. We notified the TSSAA and Central and Soddy-Daisy. "I've never had a problem previously, but this one's on my shoulders."

The wins had come back-to-back after they opened the season with four straight losses so the Rams now have a 0-6 record.

"We're in about the same shape as before [the forfeits]," Turner said of his team's playoff hopes. "If we win out we'll probably finish second in the district."

Hixson (5-2, 3-0) leads 6-AA and Red Bank is (2-4, 2-0) is second. Hixson already has defeated Tyner but Red Bank, which plays at East Ridge on Friday, still has games with Hixson next week and Tyner on Oct. 31. The Rams (0-6, 0-2) have district games remaining against Howard, Brainerd, East Ridge and Red Bank.

The TSSAA on Tuesday morning confirmed that Tyner self-reported the ineligible player and then notified Central and Soddy-Daisy.

"There were four games in which they played the ineligible player," said Matthew Gillespie, an assistant executive director with the TSSAA. "They won two of those four, which will be forfeited. Those were against Chattanooga Central and Soddy-Daisy. Those two schools will now have wins from the Tyner games."

Gillespie also said that since the ineligible player was self-reported that the fine would be $200 ($50 for each game in which the ineligible player participated as opposed to $100 per game).
