BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Four Birmingham residents have filed a lawsuit against UPS and the local airport authority, claiming their homes were damaged in the August crash of a UPS cargo jet.
WVTM-TV reports the lawsuit was filed this week in Jefferson County Circuit Court. The four residents were identified as Cornelius Benson, Barbara Jean Benson, Christopher Whitfield and Pamela Yarber -- who live across the street from the crash site.
Both pilots died in the Aug. 14 crash, which happened just short of the runway at Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport. The accident left debris scattered around the neighborhood, but no one on the ground was injured.
Messages seeking comment from UPS and the Birmingham Airport Authority were not immediately returned.
