Greater Chattanooga area prep football schedule: Baylor gets its turn at Brentwood Academy

(If you know of a 2013 football schedule change, please notify Ward Gossett at wgossett@timesfreepress.com.)

Friday, Oct. 18

All games 7:30 EDT unless noted)

Baylor (5-2, 2-2) at Brentwood Academy (5-3, 2-2), 8

Peek ahead: Brentwood Academy has rebounded handily from a three-game losing streak by winning three in a row, including last week handily over McCallie. Baylor, meanwhile, was suffering its worst loss (31-7 to Murfreesboro Oakland) since falling 42-17 to Ensworth on Sept. 14 of last year. BA has had the Red Raiders' number the last two years. The last Baylor win in the series was 21-20 in 2010.

Red Bank (2-5, 2-1) at Hixson (5-2, 3-0)

Peek ahead: If last week was a need-one situation for Red Bank's Lions, this week at Hixson is a must-have for them to stay in the playoff picture. A Red Bank win would throw District 6-AA into a three-way knot at the top. However, while Red Bank was losing last week to East Ridge, Hixson was enjoying an open date and resting some bruised and banged-up players. The game is scheduled to be televised.

East Hamilton (6-1, 3-1) at Soddy-Daisy (3-5, 0-3)

Peek ahead: East Hamilton's only loss (Ooltewah) came on the road, so some at Soddy-Daisy might find some solace there. One of the homestanding Trojans' three wins came as the result of a forfeit by Tyner for playing an ineligible player. The Hurricanes, meanwhile, have given up more points this season but have displayed a virtually unstoppable passing game. East Hamilton has back-to-back victories since that two-point loss to Ooltewah.

Sequatchie County (4-3, 3-0) at Notre Dame (4-3, 2-1)

Peek ahead: Notre Dame's up-tempo speed game ran into a cinder-block wall last week at Polk County, and after throwing up a four-game win streak, the Irish have been saddled with back-to-back losses (Signal Mountain, Polk). If it matters, both of those were on the road. They haven't lost at home since a 27-20 setback to Signal Mountain on Sept. 28 of last year. Sequatchie has been forced to play come-from-behind the last two weeks, and the Indians won one and lost one. They're 2-1 at home and 2-2 on the road. The Indians like to control the ball and the clock, and their veer option offense is capable of giving fits to undisciplined defenses.
