Atlanta officer shoots, wounds man in traffic stop

ATLANTA - Atlanta police are investigating a shooting involving one of its officers that wounded a suspect.

Police say the gunfire happened near University Avenue and Pryor Road on Monday night.

Atlanta police Capt. Paul Guerrucci said officers tried to stop a vehicle that was driving erratically. He said one of the officers suffered minor injuries when the driver fled the scene, and police fired shots.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that a passenger sustained a gunshot wound to the shoulder.

Police later located the wounded man at Atlanta Medical Center, where he was in stable condition. Police say they also apprehended the driver of the vehicle.
